Loss of a loved one, a pet, a job, a marriage or anything that we didn't see coming is an opportunity for reinvention. Initially though one has to feel the grief and work through the denial, bargaining, anger, depression to get to acceptance. But then what? That is where a reinvention is possible.
This week marked the 12 year anniversary of my dad's passing. I have noticed that the past two years have been different than the first 10. Yes, the passing of time lessens the intensity, but something in me has shifted too. I started to do some learning about the recently added by sixth stage of grief to Kubler-Ross' model: meaning. David Kessler has an excellent book called Finding Meaning.
