Saundra Heimark started 2020 with incredible news that she had been hired to work for Kobe Bryant’s production company! Just the day before she was going to go in for her first day of work, was the day Kobe Bryant died tragically.

Saundra shares how she navigated her journey of finding work again, and then losing it once the lockdowns started due to Covid 19. During this waiting period she decided to study Facial Reflexology, and also stumbled upon a health and wellness product that resonated with her at soul level and started an online business with this company. She started to market organically using her phone and social media and then she got hacked, bank account withdraws, purchases made, and then she could no longer get into her social media accounts either because her phone number had been compromised.

Then in July, she faced yet the hardest grief! Her mom was given a few days to live from ovarian cancer she had been already battling for over 3 years. Saundra was able to fly across country to spend every single day with her mom. She could see the blessing of not having a job to report to during this time, in order to give her the freedom to give her mom all the care she needed, and to be by her side when she passed away.

Amidst all these experiences, she maintains a grateful attitude, not much different than the attitude her mom had about life. Her mom’s legacy continues to live on.

Jen Zwink shares with us her grief journey after becoming a widow. Their daughter was only two years old when this tragedy happened. Jen felt as is the world was closing in on her! She took a bold leap to move herself and Claire to a small Island in Turks and Caicos for some time. She needed space to sit with her grief, but also be in nature to help her heal. When she came back to her home in Louisiana she found a community of widows to help her through her grief journey.

It has been almost 10 years since Brent passed away, and Jen is now happily married to and has another young daughter. She recently created her own podcast called Widow 180, where she interviews other widows about their journey.

Rabbi Steve Leder- is the senior rabbi of Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. Cristela Fowler shares her incredible journey with us. Her love story of how she met her husband Dave, as well as her grief journey of when he died from cancer. She became a widow and single mom to their son Noah, who was still a toddler.

She worked really hard to make sure she didn't lose herself in her grief and would lose the essence of who she was. It was already a tragedy that Noah would grow up without ever knowing his father, and she was not going to make that worst by not letting him get to know her true essence outside of her grief. She didn't focus on the "why me" mentality, but rather "why NOT me". There was a reason she went through all this grief, and she grew from it.

Her journey of motherhood and resilience, also turned to be one of finding love once again! She is now married to her husband Will, and they have a large blended family. Listen to her beautiful story of love, grief, resilience, family and hope!

Bobbi Jo Heagy is a Certified Life Coach, she helps women tap into who they are. She helps them see the gifts that they have acquired by having gone through their own struggles and tap into their worth.

In this conversation with Shelby Forsythia she shares about the “four years of hell’ that she and her family lived through, which in hindsight she is grateful for because it’s allowed her to understand others who experience grief.

They faced many different types of grief, one thing right after another, as if they could not catch a break! It all started when her dad lost his job, then shortly after he was diagnosed with two brain aneurisms. Not too long after that Shelby shared with her family that she was gay, which tested their relationship. Then her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after a short time undergoing treatment, she died the day after Christmas.

Amber Harris shares her grief journey after the sudden death of her best friend Samantha. This was her first time experiencing this much pain. Her friend Mathew was her rock and support during her grief.

Their friendship developed into a romantic one, but due to having a long distance relationship, it ended but their friendship remained. Some time later Amber had a dream in which Mathew had come to visit her. She woke of the next morning and got a call from a friend saying Mathew had died. In her heart she already knew! He had said goodbye to her in her dream.

In our conversation we talk about the ways she dealt and even not dealt with her grief. We talk about what their friendships taught her and what she learned from experiencing the grief of their deaths.

One of those big learnings was, to never hesitate to tell people how much they mean to her.

Kirsten Carlson shares with us her grief journey after the sudden, recent death of her mother. She is still in “the gray in between” part of her journey. Her mom’s death was also the catalyst for her to share with her family about the sexual abuse she had endured as a child from her own father. This also became a reason for her choosing to no longer have him be a part of her life, now that her mom has died. A great part of our conversation is on the topic of her abuse and how “giving the ghost a name, has empowered her”. We also talk a lot about the different dynamics and relationships that have shifted in her life because of her revealing this truth, but also about her own growth and knowing that she can trust her intuition and thoughts. She uses writing about her thoughts and feelings, as a tool to help her in her grief and healing journey.

Her outlook on life is positive and she focuses on living her emotions moment to moment as they come instead of worrying about what her grief or life will be like in the future.

"While growing up I experienced abandonment, trauma and loss that followed me throughout my early adult life until it all came to a head in my mid 20’s.

Through a very painful break up, my awakening was brought on. All of the pain from my past came to the surface. One of them being my father's passing from when I was just 9 years old. Since the journey began I have engaged in intensive one-on-one psychotherapy, therapy retreats focused on healing loss, inner-child work, self love, abandonment work and meditation practices.

I am so thankful for all of the healing I have done to find my true purpose on who I really am. I never realized how much my father's passing impacted me throughout my life, but the more I studied, the more I was able to put all of the puzzle pieces together and be able to distinguish why I was the way I was. It all brought me right back to my fatherless daughter wound.

I understand how much others normalize that not having or growing up without a father in your life is “OK” which at the end of the day is wrong in so many ways. It is crucial for us to have both parents in our life while growing up and when we don't have that, well that can really affect us in so many different aspects of our life (relationships, friendships, worklife, etc.)

After all was said and done I decided what better way than to share my knowledge on how I was finally able to heal from my father's passing after 16 years. I started coaching both privately and in groups to help other women who were in my position, allowing them to heal the pain that has been sitting inside of them waiting to come out for so long. I am honored to take this journey helping others heal from all of their pain and helping you find out who they are meant to be. "
