  • 28. Mindfulness Helped Me Focus On The Present- With Patricia de Piccioto
    Patricia de Picciotto, was born in Hong Kong from Lebanese parents, and raised in Geneva, Switzerland until she graduated from college with a BA in Marketing and Communication. She then spent a couple of years in London to study for my GIA (graduate gemologist) and worked in Jewelry. She later moved and lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for ten years, where she met my husband, had three kids and founded a jewelry line, Pasha Joias. She moved to New York a little over five years ago, where she became an art guide in the City.
    Life changed drastically when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. She was able to travel back and forth to Brazil several times for months at a time to be by her side for her treatments and be there with her when she died after a two years battle with pancreatic cancer. Since then, Patricia is dedicated to normalizing grief and raise grief consciousness through her @neshamajourney project on Instagram and beyond.

    Jenny Robinson describes herself as a "Soul being living a human experience as a Mother. Wife. Sister. Daughter. Friend.
    Acknowledging the darkness but choosing to live in the light.

    I chose to share this in her bio because when someone describes themselves as a "SOUL BEING living a human experience," it says it all!! Just in that phrase alone you capture her true essence, as well as her spiritual beliefs about life and death.
    In our conversation Jenny shared very candidly her mom's cancer journey as well as how the family grieved and mourned her death. Surrender, was a word she used to describe the process.

    Jenny nos relata su historia de cuando su hermano falleció al ella tener tan solo 6 años, y como su familia asimilo su muerte y como le explicaron a ella lo que había pasado.
    Años mas tarde ocurrieron otras tragedias, una dejó a su hermano en silla de ruedas y otra en donde su padre perdió gran parte de su memoria y luego su vida. Jenny estudió psicología y también habiendo encontrado un camino espiritual, tuvo un proceso de duelo muy diferente ya como adulto.
    Hoy en día Jenny ha viajado y vivido en muchas partes del mundo. Es amante de la naturaleza y le encanta escalar y también correr. Usa esos momentos en la naturaleza no solo para conectarse con ella misma, si no también para conectarse con sus seres queridos que han fallecido. Y usa el recuerdo de ellos para tener más fuerza y motivación cuando corre. Siempre los siente cerca.

    Bevin Mugford shares the very painful loss of her son Spencer, who was an avid fisherman and was lost at sea. She shares the details of this process of finding out he was missing and how the family coped with the news.
    She used the skills she had learned in her career, as a Head of Sales and in charge of Personal and Professional Development in the clothing company Peach, for her own grieving and mourning process. Reflecting on "what's the learning?" in her own grieving experience was one of the many tools that she has implemented in her journey.
    Her own experience has been something that has also helped her educate her coworkers and sales team, as well as family and friends, as to how to talk and approach people who are grieving.
