Our guest today is Marcy Kelly, a Los Angeles-based author, speaker, and screenwriter.
She studied creative writing at UCLA and earned a Master of Fine Arts from Antioch University. Her co-written screenplay, Fool Me Twice, won the Producers Guild of America's Best Screenplay Award. A former communications executive and press liaison for federal government agencies, Marcy also served as the director of Paul Newman's charitable foundation.
She writes both fiction and nonfiction, and her work often explores themes of grief, memory, and the enduring bonds between parents and children.
Marcy is here today to talk about her new memoir, The Porcelain Heart: A Mother's Memoir of Unexpected Loss, which chronicles the first year following the sudden death of her forty-five-year-old son, Michael.
