Raul doesn't normally break out of prison, but when he does, he curls up on the limb of a tree and spies into Steve's window.
On today's show we sit down to analyze a chemical with roots dating back to early man that can grab ahold of you and often never let go. A chemical which can trigger decision-making well outside of normal, sometimes waging wars, dividing families, and most alarming - causing euphoric distractions, leading to one's fantasy football team going in the toilet. So what is this exactly? Guess you'll just have to listen to find out.
An under-the-weather Steve grabs the mic and asks you all to be his Valentine in his far-from-sexy, two-pack-a-day-smoking, 73-year-old Denny's waitress voice. The always knowledgeable, insightful and lovely Amie Bramell joins him as he embarks on his first solo show.

The journey into the mysterious deaths of nine hikers in the Ural Mountains of the Soviet Union continues on. On this show we dive head first into the snow (see what we did there?) to try and determine the cause while drinking some sweet-tasting brew from Tavour.com, the best beer delivery platform on the planet. So, what did exactly happen to them? You'll just have to give a listen to find out now won't you?
As usual, we always appreciate a review of the show on apple podcasts or wherever you listen and please take a moment to follow us on Instagram where we post often about beer, mysteries, and random hilarity.
In 1959 nine experienced hikers went missing in the snowy Ural Mountains of the Soviet Union. Over the course of the next several months, each hiker's body was discovered, most of which were one-by-one. With each discovery, the mystery weaved itself tighter and tighter around unexplained and terrifying. First it was discovered their tent was cut from the inside indicating something had scared them out into the arctic night. One had bone fractures. Another was missing its tongue and eyes. At the time, Soviet authorities determined that a portion of the group had died from an "unknown compelling force," and 60 years later, despite a number of theories, we're nowhere closer to solving this unexplainable mystery... until now.
Join us as we chat with regular guest Jason Reedy (Foreign Accent Syndrome, Oktoberfest, Resurrection Mary, Friends of the Show) for a bone-chilling tale that is the zeitgeist of podcasts at the moment that you absolutely must hear. On part I, we'll break down the story and next week we'll cover some theories. Beer review by Oisin.

Throughout history, dating back thousands of years humans lived in small groups called tribes. Each person had a designated role and was expected to sacrifice for the greater good of the group. If they didn't, people may have died or suffered. The concept of tribe is so deep-rooted in the human DNA that soldiers would prefer to return to war with their fellow comrades instead of being members of the very society they longed for when they were fighting. It's the reason that settlers who were captured by natives in the settling of our country snuck back to live with the natives once they were rescued. Could our lack of tribe in our modern world be the cause of the breakdown of our society? Depression, alcohol use, drug abuse, mass shootings, a breakdown of family, lack of community, a void of purpose- are at all-time highs. Truth is, there's something is missing from our lives, we may just not realize what. What's missing is our tribe.
Join us for a tantalizingly fun episode where we need a whopping four beer reviews (Knee Deep, Sierra Nevada, and more) to explore how to arrive at humanity's collective happiness, which is "just say Hi; hey don't be an a-hole," by the way. Jevon, George, and Nick guest with skit help from the amazing Amie. Sir Matthew regales us with a trip deep into South Central's heartland. (28min)
2018 is in the books and we have a lot to be thankful for. We had some amazing guests this year on the show - Ira Pastor, CEO of Bioquark joined us to discuss the possibility of humans living forever. A new correspondent in the field Ada Pinkerton joined our cast of characters. We visited three amazing breweries; 101 North, St. Florian's and Steetcar 82 (coming soon). The Mojo sisters were back again, their whole family in full effect. Amanda Karr regaled us with ghost stories. Spiritual Medium, Evanne Jordan mystified us with her knowledge of Steve's inner workings. And then there was of course, the always entertaining, rarely serious Sir Matthew who finally discovered his porcelain-skinned crush was right in front of his nose the whole time. And what's up with that archeologist Raul? The one in prison? Will he be back? And lest we not forget the oft-obscure, always bizarre Trapper who leaves random voicemails which I'll be honest are quite bizarre and not just a little. Additional thanks to some of the regulars - the Producer, Amie, Jason Reedy, Kelly Stravers, Jevon, Nick, Gaby and of course Oisin, our Irish beer expert. Special thank you to first-timer Marc Ellis for his awe-inspiring knowledge on our Cosmic Queries shows. So what's next for 2019? Or more aptly, the next few months? Give this a quick listen and find out why dontcha?
Deck the Halls with Beers o' Malty as these yuletide lads get ready for the holidays. When drinking this time of year with friends and family we find ourselves with several beer choices. Perhaps a Christmas Ale or two have caught your eye on the shelves of your local bottle shop or grocer? But just what exactly makes it a Christmas beer? Why is said beer any different around the holidays? Join us to learn more about these holiday delights as Jason and Steve break down the top 5 "winter warmers" of 2018. And then Grognostics presents an original holiday tale that will fill your proverbial glass with joy and goodwill towards a jolly old soul you just may know.
We wish you and your family a safe and Happy Holiday and to all a Grognostic goodnight.
Sure, cattle mutilations have been evaluated on other podcasts, the Discovery Channel and by conspiracy theorists, but none have been quite discussed like you'll hear on this show. What is causing these gruesome deaths? Is it aliens? The government? Cow-tipping gone terribly wrong? Grab a cold one, turn on your funny bone and join us for 60 minutes of absolute hilarity. Special thanks to Jevon Mattiassi now a two-time guest for stopping by to contribute to the debauchery. And special thanks to Kelly Stravers for her brilliant southern accent in our intro skit.
Sometimes the deepest, gut-wrenching, breath-stopping things we fear the most are the ones the least tangible. Join us for a frightening tale as we take our usual 60-minute topic and crunch it down to a bite-sized listen. Written by Grognostics.
