In the first episode of the College Series, I am talking all about how I deal with stress in my own life. This thought was sparked by a breakdown in a local coffee shop - and how I realized that I don't need to be a superhero and accomplish one million goals in a week. In the stressful times that college brings - it's best to take it day by day.
Today I'm sharing 8 things I'd tell my freshman self from my senior perspective. So much changes (thank gawd) - if you're a freshman, I want to remind you that IT GETS BETTER.
Here are a couple of points I go over in the show:
Hoping this uplifts you today.

Zahra shares her story about taking a gap year after freshman year. She left school to get back on track with spiritual, physical and mental health.
She emphasizes how you can use this time as an opportunity to recalibrate, grow in your relationship with God, go to treatment, set priorities, and establish a vision for your health and life.
"This time allows you to go into the next season with more potential for success," Zahra says.
Zarha furthermore says that your worth is not what you do. She emphasizes we are worthy just the way we are. Sometimes, you have to make the choice that is best for you as an individual.
Your worth is not what you do.

Kat Mena pulled regular all-nighters during her freshman year of college. But after a couple months of staying at the library until 3am, she found that she was completely lonely, and not surrounded by an uplifting community.
"Your life is like a grain of salt on the timeline of eternity - exams are a grain of a grain of a salt," says Mena.
Feeling uneasy about her college experience, she realized she was giving her GPA a whole lot of power over her life. She went on a journey of self-discovery - where she learned that she was looking for fulfillment in the wrong places.
"You can't be upset about your current situation if you're not doing anything to change it," Mena said.
This does not mean you should ditch schoolwork altogether. It's more of a reflection on finding the right balance - putting in the work for school, but not letting it take over your life. You control what you can, but the results are not up to you.
Proverbs 31:21 "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord."

Emily shares what she has learned through this season of two big transitions - her dad getting cancer, and studying abroad. Emily discusses what it's like to stay in the light when the darkness seems tempting, and holding on to truth when you're doubting. She talks about finding the good even when all you can see is bad. She also discusses the AW Tozer quote: "It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly, until he has hurt him deeply.”
Emily is one of the strongest people I have ever met. I hope you all enjoy listening to her story of persevering through trial, and finding hope in the hopeless.
