The judgment that follows open investigation vindicates God as fair and just. The purpose of this uncomfortable encounter is to lead the sinner to confession of sin and to repentance. This investigation is the exercise of Divine Grace that pursues us when we are lost and like the prodigal brings us to our senses- come back home. Where are you? What have you done? Come home for grace and mercy awaits you.

The Fall of mankind is captured in Genesis 3. Equilibrium and harmony was broken and humanity lost is position when Satan tempted and deceived them. Where Adam and Eve succumbed to the lust of the flesh, the last of the eyes and the pride of life. Christ defeated Satan and grants His victory to us while providing an example for us. They Word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee. It is written! May Satan be defeated in your life- get thee behind me Satan!

Pastor Simankane reflects on garden of Eden, the place of communion and fellowship with God- the original sanctuary. What God created humanity is to manage as stewards- to abad and shamar. This is a priestly work in the temple of God. We must manage our lives and God’s world according to His will, as His imagers.

Genesis 2. Pastor Simankane looks at the Divine origins of marriage and family. For society to thrive, this basic building block must take its hallowed place. Children need safe spaces with father and mother to nurture, protect and guide them. Husband and wife love each other and reflect the love of God. Those in courtship must make the decision with care as they chose a partner with whom to tie their destiny

Pastor Simankane looks at The Sabbath in Genesis 2. At Creation, God gifts humanity with the Sabbath as a memorial of His creative power and work. Adam and Eve are ushered into His rest to enjoy the works of God. After the fall of mankind, God embarks on a special work of redemption. He has completed this work of salvation at the cross and gifts it to us. We rest in the completed work of salvation and on Sabbath give God the praise for the wonderful things He has done and accomplished for us.

God completed the work He begun at creation. May He complete His work in us.
