Have you ever thought about the "best way to live"? A big mansion, unlimited finances, movie-star good looks? Yeah, that sounds pretty cool, but in reality, that kind of life doesn't't address a basic human flaw - we are all sinners, condemned to hell. So in reality, the best way to live is to repent of your sins, and live for God's glory.

The subject of today's study is James chapter four. Many products have warning labels on them. They tell us about the right way and wrong way to use the particular product. That's James' topic too. There are things we definitely need to know about Christian conduct, and God supplies the grace to live and love as we should.

Who really knows what's best for us? Most of us, of course, think we do. However, James, in a very bold and uncompromising way, shows us in chapter four of his epistle that reliance on God is the only way to go!

Our Heavenly Father wants us to present our requests to Him. And often times, the reason we don't have some things is because we haven't asked! Pastor Jim Jarrett will explain in just a moment as we return to our study of James. We'll be in chapter four on this edition of Growing in the Word.

I'm sure you can remember times when you were young when you asked mom or dad for permission to go somewhere, but they said "no" to your request. Something like not letting you stay out past midnight, or not being able to go to a certain party. Generally, they had our best interest at heart, even though we didn't see eye to eye. It's nice to know, that in this difficult, uncertain, and even perplexing world, that we have a God who is willing to give us His wisdom to help us through. Right now on the program, we are studying the challenging epistle of James. We join our teacher, Pastor Jim Jarrett in the third chapter, verses thirteen through eighteen.

If you had to list the times you've said something you wish you could take back, I think it's safe to say many of us would have a rather long list. The tongue may be a small part of our body, but it sure can get us in trouble. Today, we receive great encouragement from James to, as a very wise man once said, "make sure your brain is engaged before putting your mouth in gear!".

Obviously, the greater of the two is the one that comes from God and so that's the one we'll spend the majority of our time talking about today as we continue our pursuit through the book of James.
