Today, we'll take one last look at Revelation chapter four. Revelation four is all about John's glimpse into heaven. Jesus was born so He could one day die on a cross for our sins, so that we could have a chance to get to be in heaven for eternity! Now, when you say "heaven" top some people, they immediately think of people sitting on clouds playing the harp, but that's not what the bible says. Just how great is heaven going to be? Let's find out.

If you're planning a vacation, you'll no doubt check out a few travel brochures. They can be a real help when trying to decide where to go, but you also have to remember that they only show the good side on the particular locale - never the down side. Revelation four is a travel brochure of sorts - as it describes what heaven looked like through the eyes of John.

In Revelation chapter four, we begin to get a glimpse of our eternal home as believers - a place we call Heaven. Do you have any concept whatsoever of the glory that awaits us when we get there? As much imagination as you or I might have, it's really impossible to comprehend!

Today on Growing in the Word we bring you our final look at the Letters to the churches in the book of Revelation. In this last study on the Church of Laodicea we learn that this is a church that is very self-sufficient. May sound good in this postmodern era...but truthfully, Jesus desires that we are not self-sufficient...but that our sufficiency is from Him.

Today on Growing in the Word, we're looking at the Letter to the church in Laodicea found in the third chapter of the book of Revelation. Jesus described this church as lukewarm. Now this makes the Lord sick. Surely if we are following Jesus, we do not want this for our lives. So why don't we learn how to be the opposite of lukewarm… hot and on fire for the Lord and a cool and refreshing drink for those in need.

The church we learn about today in Revelation chapter three is in Laodicea. Jesus has some very strong words to say about this church... not because they were horribly evil... but because they tried to play the middle. Jesus does not like this condition of being "lukewarm." To put it mildly. Not only does He find it unappealing... but He finds it nauseating!

Today on Growing in the Word, we continue in Revelation chapter three and the letters to the churches, this time focusing on Laodicea. Jesus said He would spew them out of His mouth because they were neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm. This is certainly not a good thing. It seems that this church had gotten its eyes off of Christ and gotten onto themselves.

The church in Philadelphia did not receive anything but commendation from the Lord Jesus Christ. So what does a Christian do if he or she wants to receive only commendation from God? Does this mean that we never ever make a mistake? No! Being faithful is where it's at! And pastor Jim Jarrett says we, like those in Philadelphia, can avoid the coming great tribulation!

We're talking about the church in Philadelphia. Jesus had no correction for this church, unlike those we've read about previously. This was a church that kept the word of God at the forefront of everything. We know that is essential for a proper view of Jesus. He introduces this church as the Holy One.
