When a person habitually practices sin, that says something is terribly wrong with their heart, as we’ll see today on Growing in the Word with pastor Jim Jarrett.  Currently we’re making our way through the book of  Ephesians.  In the early part of chapter five, the apostle Paul urges us to imitate God and walk in love as Christ did. 

Forgiving people, even when they hurt us, is actually a command, but why should we do it?  Pastor Jim Jarrett will point us to Christ for the answer here today on Growing in the Word as we come back to our study of Ephesians, and begin a look at chapter five.  We’ll be comparing the lifestyles of those who don’t know the Lord, with those who do.

Today we once again turn to Ephesians chapter four, and some challenging words from pastor Jim on how we should treat others. If you spend any time at all on the internet, you have seen how nasty some people are. The things they say with their keyboard would never be said in person. But pastor Jim will urge us today to be kind, tenderhearted & forgiving toward others. After all, it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice, right?

Today we continue pastor Jim’s new series in Ephesians with a message in chapter four called “Be Kind, Tenderhearted & Forgiving”. Do those three words describe the way you treat others? I think we would all like to think we treat others that way, but it’s pretty tough sometimes, isn’t it? 

 We appreciate you joining us today as we continue Jim’s new series in Ephesians. We have spent considerable time in chapter four, where Paul exhorts the Ephesians to walk the walk just like they talk the talk. We have heard that saying many times, and it really is important that we represent Christ with the way we treat others. Today we’ll concentrate on Ephesians four, verses thirty-one and thirty-two.

All of us have felt grief at one time or another. It can be as insignificant as your favorite sports team losing a big game, or as highly significant as losing a loved one. But what about man’s ability to grieve the Holy Spirit of God? We’ve been making our way through Ephesians. And in chapter four we’re warned about grieving the Holy Spirit. There are many ways we can do it, and pastor Jim Jarrett will talking about them today on Growing ion the Word.

Hello and glad to have you with us as we continue in In Ephesians chapter four. It’s here, in verse thirty, that we’re given a clear issue that we must put behind us to achieve what God has for us, and really every Christian. Grieving the Holy Spirit. Sounds like a big deal, doesn’t it? And it is! 

In Ephesians chapter four, we’re given clear instruction about specific sins and today we’ll concentrate on the specific sin Paul mentions in verse thirty - grieving the Holy Spirit.

We’re going through Ephesians verse by verse here on Growing in the Word. And as we are discovering , while the Spirit leads to life – sin leads only to a hardened callous life.
