With the enemy working overtime on our children, and an increasing measure of evil in their midst, we need desperately to turn to the solid ground of scripture for guidance.  And that’s what we’ll be doing today on Growing in the Word.  Our teacher is pastor Jim Jarrett, and he’s currently taking us verse by verse through Ephesians.  We’ll be in chapter six today

As you know if you join us regularly, we’ve spent considerable time in the New Testament book of Ephesians, and today we’ll wrap up our look at chapter five. The subject is marriage, and specifically the way a husband ought to treat his wife. I know there’s plenty of marriage advice to be had in the world, through books, television, the internet, and the like, but God’s word has all the answers we need to make our marriages the very best they can be.

We’re currently in the midst of pastor Jim Jarrett’s verse by verse series through Ephesians.  We’ve examined the wife’s role in marriage already, and now we’re considering what God calls the husband to do and to be.  With all the problems people are having in their marriages today, we can’t help but think how many of those problems would evaporate if we would simply do what God calls us to do.

 Is it possible to have a great marriage, and one that lasts? It sure is, and the Bible tells us how.  Today on Growing in the Word we turn our attention to the Spirit Filled Husband, and highlight what real love looks like.  This is just part of pastor Jim Jarrett’ study in Ephesians.  So join us in Ephesians five, beginning at verse twenty-two.

On this edition of Growing in the Word, we aim to find out what God says about marriage. God invented marriage for a very specific purpose, and that purpose means there very specific and wonderful roles to be played by both partners. Today we’ll again look at the role of the Christian wife.

 Last time on Growing in the Word - we learned that as God is the Designer and the Architect of marriage - He also designed the roles of the husband and wife. We’re  looking  at the role of the submissive wife who is to respect and support her husband. This doesn’t mean that she is inferior - but rather in a place of safety and submission even as we are submissive to Christ.

Today on Growing in the Word, we begin an exciting mini-series on Marriage and the Family, as part of our study in Ephesians.  Over the course of the next couple of weeks, we’ll see what it means to be Spirit filled parents, children, husbands, wives as well as employees and employers.  We’ll begin today by looking at the Spirit Filled Wife as described in Ephesians five,  verses twenty-two through twenty-four. 

As you may know, in our day, much is attributed to the Spirit of God that is not from Him. And so how then do we know which of our actions and words are as a result of being filled with the Spirit, and which aren’t?  We only need to look to God’s Word for the answer to that question, and that’s where we’ll go today on Growing in the Word. 

This sound familiar? We set out to do the right thing, and we get derailed along the way because we don’t use Godly wisdom - and fail to discover God’s will. We’ll be in Ephesians five, verses fifteen through twenty-one today, as we learn the importance of knowing - and doing - God’s will.

If all of a sudden our world leaders all decided to seek God’s wisdom in every decision they make - can you imagine what a great place old planet earth would become? Today on Growing in the Word, pastor Jim Jarrett returns to our series through Ephesians. Paul spoke often during his ministry about having Godly wisdom, and in Ephesians chapter five, he speaks of it again.
