There are many reading strategies you can use with your kids to increase their reading comprehension. Monitoring the text is an important reading strategy for comprehension that I use with students and I recommend to parents. In this episode, I discuss monitoring the text, how to use it, and why it is effective for reading comprehension. 

Reading strategies are things that good readers do naturally and struggling readers must learn to do. This episode is all about making predictions. I detail when and how you should make predictions and walk you through making predictions so that you can help your student become better at making predictions when reading a text. 

Reading strategies are things we do when we read to help us better understand what we are reading. I believe struggling readers need explicit reading strategies instruction.
