When Ami flew to Melbourne with her newborn son, Levi, for emergency surgery, she thought she'd be coming home with a child with a mended heart. However, there she received a diagnosis that changed her family forever.

When Nathan and Michelle were approached to provide emergency accommodation for a 15-year-old boy, the couple knew it was meant to be. Six months on, the family of five is now a family of six - and while it hasn't been all smooth sailing, they wouldn't have it any other way.

Support worker Bec will never forget her first day working with Junction. Less than 48 hours before, her family home had been burnt to the ground and she was left contemplating the fate of her father and brothers as flames engulfed Kangaroo Island. It was one of the most devastating bushfires in our state - and nation's - history. But from the ashes, has emerged enormous resilience, growth and kindness.
