I have said it once and I will say it again.  Business owners are some of the most courageous, interesting, inspiring people I have ever met.  On the other end of the business owner spectrum, business owners are also self-destructive, inefficient people as well.  This is what makes entrepreneurship so challenging.
If you own a business, you probably created it around a specific super power that you have.  Every business owner has a super power but some are better than others at making sure they create the time and space to use them.

Leadership is about influence.  Being a dictator is about control.  When I ask a group of business owner if they want to be a true leader or a dictator, they always choose the true leader.  What these business owners don't know is that there leadership style is closer to the dictatorship side. This happen because of the way these leaders make requests of their team.
There's delegation and then there's relegation.
There's respect and then there's ego.
There's do this because I pay you to do what I say and there's can I get you to help me with something.
As a leader, our communication style if how we create influence so that when we ask people to do things, they actually do it.

Belief.  This is not a term to be used lightly.  People die every day over this word.  When it comes to business, your death may be more of a metaphorical one rather than literal but die you may if you lack belief.
Passion is the first thing that someone needs to be successful.  Are you excited about what you are doing?  Excited enough that when shit hits the fan, and it will, you can push ahead?
After passion, you need belief.  Do you I believe in myself and what I am doing?  Belief is important if you want the high level success.  I say this because you can win at a certain level without belief.  It's just difficult to sustain and impossible to get to the pinnacle of success without it.

You ever wished for a comfortable or easy life?  I have and I am sure you have to.  Be careful what you ask for.  Sometimes are pursuit of comfort leads us to a life of pain later.
I see this a lot with business owners.  The highly successful business owner choose the pain now so they can reap the rewards later.  The unwise choose the easy road today only to recognize the error in their ways at some point down the road in their journey on “easy street”.

Live life for long enough as an adult that has to live with consequences and scarcity will come knocking at your door.
Scarcity starts as a whisper and slowly turns into a roar and says things like:
“You're not good enough.”, “Smart Enough.”, “Qualified.” “You're presentation is shit.” “You're shit.”
These lies are sneaky and believable if we give them enough attention.

In today's world accountability is an overused term.  Use the word in some companies and watch the eyes roll as the team listens to another set of hollow promises and directives from their leaders.
As a leader how do keep yourself from being the parent that always threatens discipline but never does anything?
When you only talk the talk and you don't walk the walk, people pick up on that pretty fast.
It's one thing to talk about accountability.  It's another to actually live it.

It sounds clichéd to say that communication is vital to great leadership.  When it come to creating leverage in a business and growing, any bad communication habits will get exposed as your employees fail to execute the game plan.
Do employees fail because they are stupid or bade people?  No.  For every employee that fails is a leader that has failed their employee through poor communication.
Stay a poor communicator for too long and you will become a victim to it.

It's hard to restrain yourself when you are the smartest person in the room.  All the ideas.  All the suggestions from your team.  None of them as smart or as good as the ideas that you would have come up with.  Being the smartest person in the room has its disadvantages when it comes to using true leverage in your business.
You hired employees to make your life easier.  Micro-managing your employees work process and inserting yourself, unnecessarily, into their work costs you more time and effort.  This scenario becomes a disillusioning factor for bosses because hiring employees has made their lives harder not easier.

Who is your business for?  Is it primarily for you or is it primarily for your clients/customers?  Upon first glance of this question, the answer seems obvious.  Most of you would say your business exists to create value for the public.
