Grueter Golf Presents: Low Expectations

"Take the leap and see what happens!" We recap the U.S. Women's Open with LPGA star Marina Alex, who doesn't pull any punches in reviewing her experience as a fan during this year's major championship. We discuss her path to LPGA success, the Solheim Cup and how exactly the team is determined, and her thoughts on the importance of showcasing the LPGA as the stellar product that it is. Tune in to find out about:

• "What the actual f#@! is a green in regulation"
• Grueter Golf's live international television debut, with minimal preparation and even less expertise
• The best looks this week at Champions Club, including Yuka Sasso, Yui Kawamoto, Shinako Hibuno and Chella Choi
• Gambling as an effective incentive to pay more attention to women's sports!

Megan LaMothe founded Foray Golf to show her daughter, Rae, what it looked like to be the boss. (Update: it's working!) She is incredibly cool and wildly interesting, and we have learned so much about golf, business, and life from her. Tune in to hear our winding conversation where we discuss:

• "Competitive shopping" and where she gets her inspiration
• What it's like teaching 5-year old Rae about everything from the Titanic to the history of rap music, the latter of which has inspired a hilarious demand to meet Big KRIT
• Our collective exasperation with the promotion of professional women's golf, and some ideas for how to improve it
• Japan!!! And a dream foursome that certainly does not disappoint.

Plus, we play Rae's favorite Big K.R.I.T. song in the outro and it's really a jam.

• The field at the 75th U.S. Women's Open going down in Houston this week, who we're excited to watch, & our advice (professional and non-professional) on who to pick for your pool (including Megan Khang (x10), Gabby Ruffels, Inbee Park, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Angela Stanford, Mel Reid, So Yeon Ryu, Bianca Pagdanganan, and really many more!)
• Why this week's tournament is regarded as the most important major for American golfers
• Our gripes from the 2020 golf season, ranging from lack of bathrooms to lack of cupholders to condescension from non-professional golfers
• PLUS! Alison tells us about the time she considered having a beer in a tournament & Sue hits us with the most real ass dream foursome yet

LJ is one of the busiest women in golf, and she is just getting started! She is a podcast host, speaker, writer, consultant, and the new President of the LPGA Amateur Association's NYC Chapter. Not only that, but as the founder and president of In-18 LLC, she is committed to helping people transform their careers and lives through golf and networking. We have some laughs and get real inspired during this conversation! Tune in to hear LJ tell us about:

• Being her own boss and the skills that she brought from Wall Street to her golf business;
• Her path to golf and how it was influenced by Tiger Woods;
• How a lack of diversity impacts golf's bottom line, and how it will take intentionality to make real change; and
•  What it was like trying to write a story for African American Golfer's Digest at the PGA Merchandise show.

PLUS! Her dream celebrity foursome has us lolling.

We catch up with friend Hally Leadbetter, Golf Digest's senior producer of digital content and one of the most exciting stars in golf media. Listen up to hear about:

• Hally's greatest hits on Instagram + how she manages to keep it real
• The time we dumped candy corn on her when her team "won" the (non-competitive) Candy Corn Classic
• The bond with her teammates at Rollins College and how they channeled that into winning the NCAA Championship (on "National Marijuana Day" in Denver, nonetheless!)
• GD's "Local Knowledge" pod episode about women's pro golf, and how investment needs to come from the top down
• Living with her parents & dating in 2020

Follow Hally @HallyLead on Instagram & Twitter and pray for more deli meat facials.

Alternate Title: "Golf's Other DJ"

D.J. Piehowski, Renaissance man & consigliere to the No Laying Up family, joins Jen, Kiki, and Haley for a rollicking discussion that covers a wide range of topics:

-How an internet friendship with Tron spun into a full-time gig with NLU
-The Symetra Tour is full of real live human beings! And D.J. "f#@!ing loves caddying"
-How a joke morphed into NLU's actual sponsorship program for development tour players (including Symetra Tour player Lauren Coughlin)
-Hot or Not! We talk Masters fashion and the Monster Energy Deep State
-Harry Styles wore a dress this week and golf is ready for its Dennis Rodman moment
-Listener questions & plenty of palace intrigue for the Refuge-heads out there

A Founders Chat with Jen, Kiki, & Haley!

We tell you all about our late-October adventure to Sweetens Cove and share our pool picks for the Masters, two days too late.

In this episode:

• We made more tour visors! Available exclusively at GrueterGolf.com
• Eight-somes are the new foursomes, 8-putts are the new 3-putts, and 6 holes is the new 9 holes. We didn't keep score at Sweetens Cove!
• We got scammed by fake strippers in Nashville
• Cameron Champ is only the 5th Black player to compete at the Masters and that is messed up.
• We give our (almost) baseless picks for who's going to be wearing the green jacket on Sunday (...or Monday?)
• Haley dresses up as Bubba Watson & uses a wedge that she found in the garbage
• ...and more!

It's our first in-person interview and the energy is tangible. Jenny Coco & Kiki head to the gorgeous Boston Golf Club to chat with LPGA phenom Megan Khang to ask the hard-hitting journalism questions that are usually reserved for nosy aunts.

In this episode, you'll hear about Megan's boyfriend, Travis, life on the LPGA tour, her incredible family story, her experience representing Team USA at the Solheim Cup in 2019, meeting Tiger Woods (!), what it's like to be really really good at golf, and so much more. (It's a long one but it's a good one.)

Keep up with all things Megan Khang  her on Instagram @megan_khang (but don't expect her to respond to your DMs right away).

Jen & Kiki interview ( & exchange compliments with) Jared Solomon, co-founder of Five Iron Golf and one of Grueter Golf's earliest supporters. Five Iron Golf is a paradise for both the serious golfer and the brand new golfer, and they are ready to bring their "Golf is for Everyone" philosophy to the masses. In this episode, we talk inclusivity, internships, dress codes, dressing up as a corn, Elon Musk, Jared's teenage poker career, and how hard it is to get good at golf.

A Founders Chat with Jenny, Kiki, and Haley

The gals take a couple of shots of tequila & then take a walk down memory lane to fill you in what Grueter Golf is all about. They discuss how the game saved them from themselves, the chaotic 8-hole round that incited a revolution in recreational women's golf, and the origins of their multi-thousand dollar empire.
