On this episode of the GSMC Baseball Podcast host Tom Dougherty recaps the MLB games from early in the week. The Cubs and Dodgers double header finished in split after two hard fought games by both teams. The Rockies go back- to back- to back against the Mets in their win on Tuesday and the A's get homers in the 9th and 10th to win in San Diego. Tom also take us to Omaha for this years College World Series. Both Washington and Texas have already been eliminated. Top seeded Florida stays alive with a 6-1 win over Texas while Mississippi State stands as the only team at 2-0 so far. Arkansas and Texas Tech will play each other today and the loser will get Florida in another elimination game. Oregon State and North Carolina will play each other again as they both sit at 1-1.

The Cubs and Cardinals played a competitive series in St. Louis while the Giants and Dodgers renewed their rivalry out in Los Angeles. Sunday was packed with dramatic endings that can be called either a product of clutch hitting or bad bullpen work. The Astros continue to roll however and the Mariners were able to get two out of three at home against the Red Sox. Tom also discusses the Phillies and their fight to gain ground on the Nationals and Braves. He also touches on the Indians and their up and down antics this season as they come off a tough series in Minnesota. Tom then previews the games for the beginning of the week.

Tom warns to watch out for the Cardinals as he likes how their rotation matches up with both the Cubs and Brewers. Tom goes over the Mariners recent success and trys to figure out what is making them tick. It is interesting to see how a team can get hot when their bullpen is working well, then when it falls apart it can really hamstring a team. Tom aslo talks about the races in the AL East and how the team who finishes in second will likely host the AL Wild Card game. The Yankees should be wary of that due to the way their rotation stacks up, they may have to rely on their power bats to get them through this season. Lastly, Tom previews the games for the middle of the week. The Angels try to scave off a sweep by the Mariners on Wednesday, a big game for them as they tumble down the standings in the AL West.
