We need to listen to the warnings in scripture about having a heart of unbelief. During the Exodus of Egypt, the Israelites had faith to leave. However, when things became hard, they wanted to go back to the place they were enslaved. We need to guard against sinful pleasures that make us turn our backs on the eternal rest promised to those who hold fast till the end. We get the strength to hold on until the end through Jesus. He is the source of our faith, enabling us to be faithful in times of trial. Look to Jesus day in and day out. If we aren’t on guard, we will drift.

” For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.”  - Hebrews 3:14
