This is one of the ‘10 Guiding Principles’ of City of Joy, a transformational program for women who have been subjected to the horrific trauma of sexual violence as a result of the on-going conflict in Eastern DRC. This is what I learnt from their guiding principles , and me wondering how people , when confronted with unspeakable brutality, can still stand up and try to find beauty and meaning in life.

'Looking for Love', 'Finding Love', 'Losing Love', 'Falling in and out of love' , I think 'love' must be one of the most frequently used words today, and the idea of this 'love', primarily romantic love, and the idea of 'finding the one' and 'living happily ever after' has fueled so many industries worth millions of dollars. This is the journey of my relationship with the word 'Love' and me discovering I don't really know what it means. I have tried to keep it in English primarily, with some Hindi thrown in, in bits !
