This episode opens Season One with "multiplicity": the ordinary condition of being many separate "I"s rather than one continuous self, each convinced, while it holds the stage, that it speaks for the whole of you. How a fresh impression calls up a different "I" to respond, with no continuity between the one speaking now and the one that spoke minutes earlier, is traced directly. Two practices are given: fasting an "I", withdrawing attention from a recurring fragment until it loses its hold, and the sacred pause, a deliberate stop inserted between impulse and reaction.
Both practices, in full, are part of Path 1: free to join, and built to be used, not just listened to. Path 1 also opens the weekly newsletter, the growing library of foundation practice packs, and full episode transcripts. Sign up here.
