George Foreman, known as the baddest man on the planet in his heyday, passed away this week. Foreman had the best career of any boxer after his final fight in the ring. He was larger than life during the sixties and seventies, but he was able to accomplish the unthinkable at 45 years old. On November 5th, 1994, Foreman knocked out Michael Moorer to claim the Heavyweight Championship, as the oldest champion in history. But, he was the spokesman for one of the greatest inventions, The George Foreman grill. With sales of over 100 million units sold, we all had one. Rest in Peace champ! OH yeah, the baseball season started...in Japan. Opening day in the US is this Thursday. St. John's is gone, UC San Diego is gone, how's your bracket? MINE IS CRAP! Enjoy the rest of the tournament, I still have Florida, Maryland and Tennessee left. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 262.

He's done it again! Rick Pitino has brought the St. John's basketball program back to the top. It's been 25 years since the Red Storm had claimed the Big East title. RJ Luis Jr. scored 29 points, 27 in the second half to lead St. John's to a blow out win in the Big East title game. Florida is another team that the GURU has his eyes on. Walter Clayton Jr. led the Florida Gators to the SEC title game today against Tennessee. We can't forget about the ladies as well. Buzzer beaters, A four overtime game, upsets, and a fond-fairway to a legendary coach. This was just the beginning of March Maddness in college. In the next few weeks, the college basketball world will be the number one sports talking point. A short episode today, we will be back next week with Episode 260 of the GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast.

On February 27, we received the very sad and mysterious news that the world had lost a movie icon with Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, and one of their three dogs. The Santa Fe police department is still investigating and the case is still not ruling out the possibility of foul play. Hackman will always be remembered as an actor that can fit any role and could make it Oscar worthy. From the tough 1971 tough cop, "Popeye" Doyle in The French Connection, which earned him his first Academy Award for best actor, to the evil sheriff Little Bill Daggett in his role in "Unforgiving" which he earned his second Oscar for best supporting actor. Hackman will always be remembered for always being a gentleman and one of the greatest humans as well. While at the top of his career, Hackman decided to walk away from Hollywood, just like some of the greats in sports, like Ted Williams, Barry Sanders, Jim Brown. The GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast, salute Hackman and sends our deepest condolences to his family. We will be back next week with Episode 259.

Ok, Big Props to Canada 🇨🇦 for handling their business on Thursday night. We still love you, and will see you next year in the Olympics. How about Luka Doncic and LeBron on finally getting a signature win over the Denver Nuggets. Give them credit for a 23-point blowout. The Jacksonville Jaguars finally have a new General Manager. James Gladstone comes over from the Los Angeles Rams to help guide this franchise in the right direction. College basketball is coming down to the final weeks before Championship week. The GURU gives you some teams and players to look out for. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to Victor Wembanyama and Greg Popovich. Both San Antonio Spurs player and Head Coach will be out for the rest of the season. Get well soon guys. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 258 of the GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast.

I'm back, after a week off to watch that butt kicking Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles. Well, the United States and Canada had a mini war last night in Montreal. Three fights in the first nine seconds of the game was AWESOME! I love Canada, but the GURU isn't down with the booing during the national anthem. That forced the US to score three unanswered goals, on their way to a four nations victory. This might be the first round between the two teams. Tyler Herro won the Three-Point Shootout, Matt McClung won the Slam Dunk Contest for the third straight year, without any of the big named superstars. Check out your television, and check out Paradise! This one is outstanding. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 257 of the GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast.

Shock and awe, stunning, surprised, any adjectives to describe what happened over night in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks pulled off one of the biggest blockbuster trades of all time and probably in sports history.
Luka Doncic is now a LA Laker and Anthony Davis is now a Dallas Maverick. The GURU and Kaden GURU discuss this one, and we gave several different options on how this trade when down. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. Oh yeah, the Super Bowl is next week, but this trade has kicked the NFL off the cliff. Stay tuned!

Well, How about the Ohio State Buckeyes, the National Champions of college football. This amazing run was historic. After the loss to Michigan in November, the Buckeyes never stopped until the clock hit zero in the Championship game. The Jacksonville Jaguars finally got their act together and hired a new head coach. The story of how they got this guy has to be one of the craziest and chaotic methods ever. The AFC and NFC Championship games are hours away, KC and Philadelphia. The GURU and the crew would like to thank everyone for five great years of this podcast. We are thankful and grateful for you, the listeners. Hopefully we can entertain you for another five years. THANK YOU for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 255.

When you mention the name Bob Uecker, a smile comes across everyone's faces. The former baseball player, actor, comedian and baseball hall of fame broadcaster passed away at the age of 90, ten days from his 91st birthday. "Mr Baseball" was the name that late night host Johnny Carson named him. He will be missed. Detroit was shocked over the upset loss to the rookie Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to the AFC Championship game for the seventh straight season. Good luck to the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they take on Norte Dame in the National Championship game. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 254. Stay tuned and safe.
