  • GURU TALKIN SPORTS: EPISODE 282, A salute to Lee Corso
For the past 38 years, Lee Corso has entertained us with his silly, zany, and sometime foul mouth humor. 430 total times he wore the head gear, 45 times he made our Ohio State Buckeyes his choice. On Saturday afternoon, August 30th, Corso, put on the Brutus the Buckeye's head gear for the final time. Exactly where it all began in 1996. At 90, we don't know how much longer our coach will be around, but it's only the best way to leave the big stage. I HAD A REALLY GREAT TIME WATCHING ALABAMA AND CLEMSON LOSE YESTERDAY! F-em! Today is very busy, another podcast to be on, my league's fantasy football draft and a jersey selection for the draft. Also, all picks and college football teams that Lee Corso was affiliated with won. Maryland, Navy, Indiana, Florida State, Louisville, and Northern Illinois all won their games. Thank you Coach Corso. Thanks for the memories that will never be duplicated. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 283. Until then, the GURU will see you real soon. Goodnight number 39.

  • GURU TALKIN SPORTS: EPISODE 282
August 24th is a very special day. 20 years ago, my son was born and I wanted to share this special time with everyone. June 5th, August 23rd are also special days on the calendar. I always remember Donte's special day, and yesterday we remembered the late, great Kobe Bryant. Kobe would have celebrated his 47th birthday. The NFL season is right around the corner, and it's draft time. "It's hard out here for a commish!" This is what I have been preaching to the members of our fantasy football league. The GURU will be very busy this week. Back on the road, a podcast appearance, fantasy drafts, etc. We will be back next week with Episode 283. Good night #39.

The Milwaukee Brewers are the talk of the baseball world. They have won a franchise record, fourteen straight games. They are doing this with timely hitting, stellar defense, quality pitching, and capitalizing on opponents mistakes. This team is doing all of this without any superstars. The Raiders and Jaguars are looking decent in the preseason. The GURU takes a look at both teams. We had to say goodbye to Tristan Rogers and Danielle Spencer. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 281.

I'm back from vacation, and I want to thank my guy JP for a great conversation over breakfast last Sunday mornings. I really appreciate it 🙏. After a great week off, it was time to get back. The idiots were making news in the WNBA by throwing sex toys on the court. STOP IT! IT'S NOT FUNNY UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT! What will they come with next? Cam Little hit a 70 yard field goal, in the Jacksonville Jaguars loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The debut of Travis Hunter was good, the Jags, ek! We have to give out Big Props to Jen Pawol, the first female to umpire a MLB game. Congrats on a historic accomplishment. We mentioned the steadiness of the Toronto Blue Jays and the destruction of the Baltimore Orioles. Thank you again for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next weekend with Episode 280. I'm just glad to be back to entertain you all. Good night #39.

Family and All Stars tops this episode. After a great time with the family this weekend, the GURU took some time to chill out with the cousins in Philly. What a time for all stars. We had the first ever Swing Off in the MLB All Star game. We also seen the future of the game with the automatic robot strike zone. The changes in baseball are great but I still like to see a umpire behind the plate. Give it up for the WNBA All Star game as well. Skylar Diggins, the first player in league history to record a triple-double. Napheesa Collier scored 36 points, the most in All Star history to lead her team over Team Clark 151-131. The evening was lead by all players wearing the "Pay Me What You Owe Me" t-shirt. The GURU agrees with them. This league has grown and now they should be treated with equally and respect. Thanks again for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next weekend with Episode 278.

  • GURU TALKIN SPORTS: EPISODE 276
We are down to the rematch of Carlos Alcatraz and Jannik Sinner in the Mens Wimbledon final. Yesterday, we watched in complete shock how Iga Świątek beat Amanda Anisimova in straight sets to win the Woman's Wimbledon Championship. As I watched, I was in complete shock and awe. Anisimova was completely dominated, losing 6-0 6-0. Amanda was battling personal things and said she had nothing left in the tank, after beating the world's number one player, Aryna Sabalenka. Oh yeah, I'm going with Alcatraz to win on the Men's side. The MLB ALL STAR BREAK IS HERE! and, my Toronto Blue Jays are still in first place. YaY! We started this episode with a shout out to the Toilet Bowl Club for a birthday shout for Mrs. GURU. The fantasy football season is coming. So we had to mention the Third And Long league, because the GURU is the Commissioner. Have a great rest of your Sports Weekend and will see you back here next weekend with Episode 277.

  • GURU TALKIN SPORTS: EPISODE 274 REMEBERING DAVE PARKER
On June 28th, we learned of the passing of a true legendary player, Dave Parker. Parker was elected to the Baseball Hall Of Fame in January and was less than thirty days away from receiving his plaque in Cooperstown New York. He was one of the most feared hitters in baseball during the later part of the 1970's and through out the 1980's. Parker was the ultimate five-tool player that displayed power, speed, fielding, able to hit for average, and leadership. After beating the Baltimore Orioles in seven games in 1979, Parker made the World Series two more times in Oakland with the Athletics in 1988 and winning his second ring in 1989, in the famous "Earthquake World Series" beating their Bay rivals the San Francisco Giants. The GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast send our deepest condolences out to his family. He was my favorite players of all time. Rest in power, Cobra. We will be back next week with Episode 275. We will always pay tribute to legendary people that leaves us. At the end of every episode, we will say good night #39, as a closing. Enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend.
