In the mid-2000s Games Workshop's Black Library didn't just publish Warhammer novels, it published original stories for classic movie horror franchises like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Final Destination!

With the new Final Destination: Bloodlines movie on the way Jordan Sorcery and Stu at the GW Book Club decided to delve into the horrors of Black Flame publishing with a discussion about Final Destination: Dead Reckoning by Natasha Rhodes. 

There's also some chat about the origins of the Black Flame imprint at Black Library, the other novels in the line, and the brief revival of Dark Future!

The final GW Book, a true Warhammer Fantasy classic written by  by Kim Newman under the pen name Jack Yeovil and released in 1991. Beasts in Velvet is a Jack the Ripper inspired murder mystery on the streets of the Empire capital of Altdorf. 

Featuring countless cameos from the other GW Books titles and a brilliant detective story at its heart this book is right up there with the greatest Warhammer fiction there is!

In GW Book Club my friend Stu and I make our way through classic Games workshop fiction, including the 17 original books published by GW Book between 1989 and 1991.

Kid Zero and his pet snake Lady Venom have come into possession of an illegal data disc from one of the Dark Future's biggest mega-corporations. On the run from bounty hunters the Kid will hook up with hackers, team up with biker gangs, get kidnapped to the Antarctic, and enter a virtual reality like nothing he's seen before! 

We're reading Ghost Dancers, the final original novel set in Games Workshop's post-apocalyptic-cyber-goth Dark Future setting that was inspired by Mad Max, Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, 80s action & horror movies, and a little bit of Cthulhu. 

Written by Brian Stableford under the pen name Brian Craig and released in 1991 Ghost Dancers explores a different corner of the setting with characters introduced in a number of other short stories and novels.

In GW Book Club my friend Stu and I read classic Games Workshop books. Right now we're making our way through the 17 original books published by GW Books between 1989 and 1991.
