Acts 2:4-"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit". Gusto is such a great word in the English language! You can check out Season 10, episode 220, "GUSTO!" where I go into full detail about this word and how it relates to the Christian life well lived. The Holy Spirit, who in a word brings all of the attributes of Jesus Christ to life in us that is the GUSTO of real spiritual life. It is impossible to overestimate the consequences of this sacred filling of the soul. The Holy Spirit to us is sacred oil, purifying water, the light, holy fire, the sacrificial flame, heavenly dew, the dove which hovers over us, the Comforter, working in us an inherited spirit of family by which we can call Him Father. As the wind, he brings the breath of life to us, blowing where he desires; he performs the energizing operations by which the spiritual creation is brought to life in us and sustained. Friend, let’s make it our desire and prayer to feel and know his presence this day and every day.

Reading #14:, pg. 183, July 1 (Prayer), Samuel Lee, Puritan Sermons 1659-1689. II:191-194.
"From the first day that you set your heart to understand ... your words have been heard." (Daniel 10:12)
At times it may seem that God is slow in answering our prayers, or absent from the scene all together. These thoughts could not be further from the truth, and undermine our consistency and diligences in private prayer. In times past, the deeply devoted to God spent a great amount of time in private, secret prayer. They referred to this action as meeting with God in your closet. It draws upon the contrast that Jesus points out regarding the hypocritical religious leaders of his day who loved to stand on the street corners in the public spaces and pray out loud great and boasting prayers, all for the purpose of inflated exercises in arrogance. Instead of being public and powerless, God calls us to privacy and power!

"In an earnest and searing wake-up call, the author of the bestseller Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy warns of the haunting similarities between today’s American church and the German church of the 1930s. Echoing Bonhoeffer’s prophetic call, Eric Metaxas exhorts his fellow Christians to repent of their silence in the face of evil before it is too late." (Amazon intro)

Most of us live such busy lives it is easy to allow one day to slide into the next, without living intentionally, which erodes our God given rights of pursuing a life with gusto, fully embracing our personal liberties, and pursuing with tenacity a life of happiness! Here are some calendar calibrations coming up along with some helpful encouragement to be a difference maker where YOU LIVE as you stand against the wickedness that is being poured out on our world in aggressive proportions. The eight pointers at the end were inspired by Charles Spurgeon's evening devotion from May 29th.

This podcast is based on "Balm from Gilead to Recover Conscience,” a sermon by Thomas Adams, first published in 1612. What is Conscience? The soul of a man recoiling upon itself! Conscience is not a habit, a learned behavior, or a social conditioning, but rather an essential part of the human soul. A good conscience is essential for a godly, happy and fulfilling life. In this episode we discuss the nature of conscience, the importance of a good conscience, and how to recover a troubled conscience.

"These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar." (Hebrews 11:I3) This reading #12 from the Voices Of The Past Volume 2 does a great job of reminding us of the total sufficiency of the power of faith to meet every life need!

"I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth." (Ecclesiastes 10:7) The world is upside down, and therefore, the first are last and the last first. We are seeing this reality manifested in every corridor of our globe. When the wheel turns(and someday it absolutely will!), those who are lowest rise and the highest sink. Patience, then, believer, eternity will right the wrongs of time. But here is the power point, amid turbulent times or times that appear to reek of injustice and abuse we must not allow our circumstances to be a gateway for us to fall into moral failure, by wayward choices, into the error of letting our passions and carnal appetites ride in triumph, while our nobler powers walk in the dust. We were not newly created through rebirth in Jesus Christ to allow our passions to rule over us, but that we, as a kingdom of priests before God, may reign in Christ Jesus over the triple kingdom of body, soul, and spirit, to the glory of God the Father!

Welcome to gwot.rocks, a podcast about God, the World, and Other Things! We're all about advancing the peace of Christ in the midst of an agitated world. In a time where…
On that first day of His public ministry, Jesus proclaims that He is the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy - that He is the Messiah who has come to bring the spiritual and social liberation promised in the passage. This is a bold and revolutionary claim, especially in His hometown. As the account unfolds, the people’s reaction turns from amazement to rage, leading them to attempt to throw Jesus off a cliff. However, Jesus miraculously walks through the crowd unharmed and leaves Nazareth. This event is significant as it marks the beginning of Jesus' public ministry and sets the tone for His mission: to bring spiritual, physical, and social liberation. Jesus’ reading and declaration align His mission with the messianic prophecy, emphasizing he is not just a teacher or prophet but is the long-awaited Messiah who inaugurates God's kingdom of the ultimate spiritual Jubilee - spiritual liberation and the arrival of God's kingdom, bringing freedom, healing, and renewal to all people. The Jubilee of Jesus Christ for individuals AND society as a whole is available to all today! As you can tell from the title and the podcast genesis, the topics covered in the future will be an eclectic and engaging look at stories and topics that inspire you and advance the peace of Christ in your life. and in the lives around you!
