What does that mean? Well, it means a lot of things, but at its heart, it's about reprogramming your brain so that you can focus on positivity and positive habits.
We'll talk about how this can help with everything from productivity to relationships and even self-esteem.
And if you want to learn more about how writing down your feelings can help you change your life for the better, check out our previous episode on keeping a gratitude journal! But here's the thing: it's not just about having things—it's about having the right things. You can think of gratitude as a tool that helps you shift your thinking from "wanting" to "having." It's a way to reprogram your brain so that instead of focusing on what you don't have, you focus on what you do have and how lucky you are to have it.
And it's not just about getting rid of negative thoughts—it's also about cultivating positive ones! Gratitude journaling is an excellent way to help nurture those positive feelings by reminding yourself of all the great things in your life and how much they mean to you. The research backs this up: studies have shown that people who practice gratitude tend to be happier and healthier than those who don't. They also tend to sleep better, exercise more often, and be more likely to seek out social support from others (which is linked with lower levels of stress). But how exactly does one go about practicing gratitude? That's what we want to talk about today!
I talk about shifting from a negative thought to a powerful postive one. How power poses can demand respect, and your body language dramatically increasing testosterone production by 30% in only 2 minutes!
Studies have shown that just 2 minutes of power posing—you know, standing like Wonder Woman or Superman with hands on hips and feet spread wide—can increase testosterone production by 30%! And if you're feeling down, it's a great way to boost your confidence while also helping you feel less stressed out.
So what are you waiting for? It's time to start thinking about your body language as something positive, instead of something negative.
We all know that our thoughts can have a big impact on how we feel, but what about when it comes to our physical health? The ability to control our minds and shift from negative to positive thoughts can have a huge impact on our overall well-being.
Here are some interesting facts about your brain that you may not have heard before:
-Your brain is more active when you're dreaming than when you're awake.
-Neurons in the brain fire together—so if you want to learn something new, start by taking a nap!
-The brain uses 20% of our body's energy, even though it only makes up 2% of our body weight.
-The average human spends 1/3rd of their life sleeping!
And then there's my favorite fact: Your thoughts create your reality. Let's break this down for a moment: When you think about something, your mind starts to create images based on those thoughts—and these images become real in your mind. So if you start thinking about being late for work every morning before leaving home, those thoughts will make their way into your subconscious—and before long, you'll find yourself actually being late for work! (Not cool.)
But there's good news too: You can use this fact to change how YOU perceive things in the world around you by changing what
