Hail Satire! with Vic Shuttee

2001 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It was the story of two years in 2001, and the story of a host. But for months of the year, who exactly IS the host is a bit of a question? Will Stephen Colbert or Steve Carell usurp the desk? Can Vance, Mo and Nancy break through the wall of The Others, along with all these new faces? What was Jon Stewart thinking pairing a Grammy hosting stint with signing on to being the fourth male lead from Death to Smoochy?? Questions asked and answer in this first break down of the Jon Stewart's third season on The Daily Show, from January to June. Plus, coverage of the Bush transition, a farewell to Vance and a very joyous rivalry is born. Catch-up on 12 months of the political comedy series that redefined a genre, with this audiobook special deep-dive presentation hosted by Vic Shuttee and Chandler Dean. Part 1 of 4. 1996 - It's A DAILY SHOW WEEKLY BONUS EPISODE, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! Before we hop back through the year 2001's ups and downs, lets take a crash course down Jonny Stew Stand Up Lane. His only HBO special through 2018 is the incredibly difficult to track down UNLEAVENED, which has solid bits on Election 1996, bombing Saddam and the plenty of racial observations. If you've gotten through the entire 3rd year of the podcast, this episode should be an easy dessert. Like Rob Schneider always said first: YOU CAN DO IT. Nothing better than a classic comedy pair - Laurel and Hardy! Abbott and Costello! Cheech and Chong! Inspired by a look back at the vaudeville days, Scott and Vic discuss the best comedy duos of ALL TIME, and brainstorm frequent collaborators that maybe AUGHTA be considered classics. Plus, the boys lay down the law on corporately created tag-teams we dislike, and fantasize of those impossible teams that could have been: Kinison and Dangerfield, anyone? Originally record June 20, 2018. Hail Satire! is hosted and produced by Vic Shuttee.

Conversation #168, recorded on May 15, 2018. Vance DeGeneres is a comedian, producer and actor, known to many as one of the original correspondents on THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, serving on-camera from January 1999 to May 2001. From the field to the studio, Vance worked alongside a cast that included Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Mo Rocca, Beth Littleford and more, making his mark with a dry wit and a perchance for drawn-out puff pieces - including the recurring favorite, A Daily Show Tale Of Survival. Though he departed the show early into it's 17-year run, Vance was present at so many seminal points in Jon's early days and he takes a stroll down memory lane pitstops like Jon's first week, The famed RNC week in Philadelphia, Election Night (turned Indecision) 2000, and the month long Jon Stewart "Death to Smoochy" sabbatical that led to Vance guest hosting the program himself. While the terrific Chris Smith Daily Show Book has plenty of insight, Vance's perspective was sadly lacking - so, hopefully this in-depth chat answers more than a few lingering questions. The perfect compliment to Vic's other podcast, The Daily Show Weekly - strap in for a hot and flakey ride. The Daily Show Weekly and Hail Satire! are hosted and produced by Vic Shuttee.

Lewis breaks down the two years this was, Stephen Colbert, Senior Jewish Correspondent, firmly explains Hanukkah and Steve Carell offers a very special gift in the form of a star-packed salute to Christmas Specials. JULY 1, 2018 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As the 9/11 fear subsides, everybody is eager for a vacation. Jon corrects his well-informed guests and re-airs bumpers because PEOPLE DEMAND IT. Also Carell auto-pilots on Ad Nausem, and doubles down on the idea that Everybody Has A Story (spoiler alert: they do NOT). JUNE 23, 2018 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! In a dry week at the sleepy end of November, Jon phones in interviews with a D-List bench of guest stars amounts to another lazy week of content. With only Steve Carell as a light of guidance, it appears the show has finally had too much war for its enjoyment and only the wackiness of a murderous Nancy Walls or a cigar smoking Rocca can make the difference.
