2002 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! Before getting to the annual Daily Awards, the correspondents need to face their performance reviews. From the old guard of Stephen Colbert, Mo Rocca and Steve Carell, to middle children Matt Walsh and Lauren Weedman, to the new hires of Rob Corddry, Ed Helms, Rachael Harris and more - we leave no player unexamined. Did Mary Birdsong get a raw shake? Why no send off for Nancy Walls? What's going on with Frank DeCaro!? Plus, a round-up on all the nonsense podcast inventions like the TDS interns, the NPCs and Cheecks Mulrooney, the podcasting time-traveling motor car! And not to be outdone, a full retrospective on the year from Jon's POV, through Death to Poochie and beyond! Part 3 of 4. 2002 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As 2002 wraps up, The Daily Show wrestles with its identity as wars overseas ramp up and the Midterms come in like an oh-so quiet beast. With new players like Rob Corddry and Ed Helms finding their grooves as correspondents, can others from the previous generations survive - where does the show make time for the likes of Lauren Weedman, Matt Walsh, and Nancy Walls? Plus, as the elections come to a close, the show does a fabulous week in Washington DC and revamps the entire TDS homebase while they're at it. The big question is: with Jon Stewart remaining as host for the foreseable future, has a new era dawned past Death to Poochie? Catch-up on the last 6 months of the political comedy series that redefined a genre, with this audiobook special deep-dive presentation hosted by Vic Shuttee and Chandler Dean. Part 2 of 4. 2002 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! 2002 enters quietly, and eager for progress. Coming off the Patriots in Clown Suits zenith post 9/11, there are many more variables at play – what's fair game to joke about? How comfortable is our rising star Steve Carell, and will Hollywood be calling his name sooner than we think. Are newer correspondents Matt Walsh and Lauren Weedman adapting to the show and making a significant impact? But no one can prepare for the biggest question: will Jon Stewart be snagged away by ABC? Questions asked and answer in this break down of the Jon Stewart's four season on The Daily Show, from January to June. Plus, the Middle East and Catholic Priests, the debut of new powerhouses Rob Corddry and Ed Helms and a reckoning for the sexist media coverage (and a lamp shading of the show's icky practice of limiting women in studio). Catch-up on the first 6 months of the political comedy series that redefined a genre, with this audiobook special deep-dive presentation hosted by Vic Shuttee and Chandler Dean. Part 1 of 4. NOVEMBER 2001 - It's a DAILY SHOW WEEKLY SIDE QUEST, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! Nobody loves Stephen Colbert like us – from his verbal gymnastics to his sharp political segments, after more than 4 years on The Daily Show, you'd think the man would easily coast through a half hour best of. Eh, not so much. As we debut a new Colbert character and look back at the best of his bits on clowns, dogs and hookers… sadly STEPHEN COLBERT AGAIN: A LOOK BACK drags like a kitty kat hit with a bat. MAY 2001 - It's a DAILY SHOW WEEKLY SIDE QUEST, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It was only a matter of time – with Steve Carell MVPin' it up, cracking out more appearances that any other correspondent in a single year and more than occasionally HOSTING the show – he was bound to break into his own celebration. And what a celebration! With original music, self-interviews and creepy awards, STEVE CARELL SALUTES STEVE CARELL HOSTED BY STEVE CARELL is both STEVE NAUSIUM and A TREND IN-STEVE. If life was EVEN STEVPHEN, we'll probably get a Colbert special too. AUGUST 1999 - It's a DAILY SHOW WEEKLY SIDE QUEST, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! So far removed from 1999, this side quest seems like a trip to another dimension! The DAILY SHOW SUMMER SPECTACULAR is so damn goofy, who knows which way is up. And questions galore this side quest –Is Steve Carell going Full Squidward?? Who has Mo tangled ass with??? WHY IS BLOG TRYING TO KILL EVERYBODY?? With so little time, who knows what will be answered – but I do know that Vance ruined the ice cream. Early 2002 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY, hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As if the journey wasn't long enough, we're closing the book on 2002 with a little bonus coverage! Remember that time Jon left the show for a month or so, and the host-round-about brought such joy to the boys during 2001. Well, in 2002, we find out who was to blame with DEATH TO SMOOCHY. After months at Camp DeVito, Jon gets to act alongside greats like Robin Williams, Edward Norton, Catherine Keener and Harvey Firestein. But was the end product worth it? We focus on Jon's contributions to the film that was born to be a punchline – the fine work of the 4th Male Lead.
