I'm normally not too optimistic about climate change, but I've been hearing from so many brilliant people and it's Earth Day so I thought I'd do something a little different. In this episode, I'll share how and why I became passionate about sustainability (my origin story) and 5 things that make me optimistic for the future.

My first Portuguese guest is on a mission to help his fellow digital nomads lower their footprint and increase their impact as they travel the world for work. He and his partner, Sara, founded the No Footprint Nomads website where they promote a low-impact nomadic lifestyle. He also co-founded the Thriving Nomads which intends to be a community of nomad change-maker entrepreneurs.
Welcome, João Mendes.

Today’s guest is saving the seas with Sea Shepherd Portugal. They do it through education and awareness campaigns as well as direct action in the ocean. It’s fascinating, essential work and I’m so honored to talk with Maike Baun.

A lot of hippies gravitate towards Buddhism so I thought it would be fun to talk with one of my favorite people, a Buddhist student and teacher. She is also a prison chaplain, author, celebrant (she officiates weddings and funerals), the director of Tarastone Retreat center, and someone who simply glows with love and light.
Welcome Sherab Chödrön.
In this episode, we talk about Buddhism and what it means. We talk about grief, attachment, cultural appropriation, my resistance to the word "play," and what Buddhism can tell us about climate change.

Dogs do so much for us and we have the honor of caring for them and giving them a good life. When today’s guest realized her beloved English bulldog had arthritis in his shoulder, she used her biotech engineering expertise to create a collagen supplement to help his joints feel better. And it worked!
She created a startup called HappyBond that makes and sells human-grade supplements and food for our four-legged friends. Then she partnered with Dog Whisperer Cesar Milan to get the word out about it.
I love her commitment to quality and sustainability, and I admire her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to making life better for animals. I’m so honored to talk with Anja Skodda and I hope you enjoy our conversation.

Let’s get a little woowoo!
This week, I’m talking with soul coach, Lisa Rose.
She tells us how to make a personal altar and what she includes on her altar to make it grounded and close to the earth. We also talk about travel, living abroad, and how to make simple sustainable swaps around your home.
In her work at Truly Living You, Lisa helps creative women who've already had a lot of successes to create a more deeply satisfying life by getting in touch with their soul to understand its gifts, characteristics, and desires and use that understanding to create a life from the inside out so they feel like they are truly living.

When I hear the word hippie, I don’t usually think of attorneys, so I’m very excited because today’s guest is an attorney and legal coach, an entrepreneur, a little woowoo, a lifelong learner, and a leader. We talked about her role as a lawyer, how she became an entrepreneur and legal coach, and maintaining the image.
She also took the Harvard Business School Online Sustainable Business Strategy course so we talked about greenwashing and what companies are doing to be more sustainable.
My conversation with Lisa Fraley was so inspirational and uplifting. I hope you enjoy her wisdom and energy as much as I do.
