Roanoke native and 2014 VSHF Inductee, Ronde Barber, was a cornerstone on defense for both the University of Virginia and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The ACC Freshman of the Year, and 3x All-ACC, went on to become a 3x 1st Team All-Pro, 5x Pro Bowl Selection, and member of the NFL’s All-2000’s Team. Now 11 years after his retirement he will receive the highest honor from the league when he is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, August 5. 2017 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, Dre Bly, had plenty of success on the gridiron. The Chesapeake native and Western Branch High School alum, was a 2x consensus All-American for North Carolina Tar Heels Football, and 2x Pro Bowl selection across 11-season in the NFL. A member of the Super Bowl XXXIV Champion St. Louis Rams, Bly has now taken his talents to the sidelines. 2023 VSHF inductee, DeAngelo Hall, starred for Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, VA before an All-American career for Virginia Tech Football. The #8 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, played 14 seasons in the NFL, primarily for the Commanders franchise, was named to 3 Pro Bowl teams, and finished his career with 43 interceptions. 2023 VSHF inductee, Ryan Zimmerman, has gone from baseball phenom in Virginia Beach, to All-ACC at the University of Virginia, to 2x All-Star and Washington Nationals legend. 2023 VSHF inductee, Sheila Trice-Myers, has a resume that is unmatched in NCAA Division-III history. The Louisa County native and Christopher Newport University alumnus earned 30 All-American honors, won 23 conference championships, and 15 national championships during her time with the Captains Track & Field program. Among her accolades she is one of only two competitors, Jesse Owens being the other, to win 4 national championships in different events at a single NCAA championship. Her 55-meter dash record, set in 1989, still stands to this day. Trice-Myers will join us on the #HallCall Interview Series to discuss her career, and upcoming induction into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

2023 VSHF inductee, Bob Rotanz, is one of just two players in Roanoke College Men’s Lacrosse history to win National Player of the Year honors, a feat he accomplished in 1978. That same season, Rotanz also took home National Defensive Player of the Year honors, and helped lead the Maroons to the NCAA D-II National Championship, scoring the winning goal in a 14-13 victory over Hobart College. The New York native has since made his home in Southwest Virginia, and his commitment to his community and alma mater have seen him receive the Roanoke College Medal, the highest achievement for Maroon alumni. 2023 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Distinguished Virginian Award recipient, Joe Montgomery, has found success from the gridiron to the boardroom. An All-American center for William & Mary

football in the 1970’s, Montgomery has since been honored by the Rimington Trophy with its Gerald. R. Ford Legends Award for his continuing commitment to his alma mater and many other philanthropic endeavors. 2023 VSHF Inductee, Francena McCorory, has topped the medal podium at all levels of her career. First as a record setting high school track and field star for Bethel High School in Hampton, VA, then as a National Champion for her hometown Hampton University Pirates, and ultimately as a 2x Olympic Gold Medalist for USA Track and Field. 2023 VSHF Inductee 2023 Shawn Moore, is a Virginia football legend. Coming out of Martinsville on the Southside of Virginia, Moore, would go on to set dozens of school, conference, and NCAA records at quarterback for the University of Virginia football program. The 1990 ACC Player of the Year and Heisman Trophy finalist became "one of the most important recruits in UVA Football history" according to Hall of Fame Coach George Welsh. This April, Moore adds Virginia Sports Hall of Fame inductee to that resume.

2023 VSHF Inductee, Jerry Ratcliffe, has spent 5 decades covering sports in Virginia. The 4x Virginia Sportswriter of the Year is best known for his coverage of ACC sports and specifically the

University of Virginia. Moving from print to digital media in 2018, Ratcliffe continues to provide expert insight on all things UVA.
