Hallmark Mysteries & More

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions.

This week we’re reviewing A Season to Blossom, Hallmark’s spring romance starring Emily Tennant and Carlo Marx. An aspiring writer returns to sell her late grandmother’s bookstore, rediscovers her voice and her roots, and finds herself falling for her childhood crush all over again. It’s the old-school Hallmark comfort we’ve been craving — and it actually feels like spring.

We break down why the chemistry between the leads is so believable, why the seasonal living themes hit harder than you’d expect, the surprisingly accurate yoga breathwork scene, the bookstore aesthetic, the cats, and the tire swing scene we didn’t see coming. We also catch a quiet little continuity mistake no one else seems to have noticed (elderberry vs. elderflower — you’ll know it when you hear it), talk through a missed cameo opportunity that could have been SO fun, and recommend the Hallmark movies to watch next if you loved this one.

Plus — Andrea made a last-minute $157 flight to Florida for spring break, drove her in-laws’ new car back to Minnesota, and survived the worst hotel neighbors imaginable in Atlanta. IRC was watching Hallmark in his Vegas hotel room while his wife was at Def Leppard and has strong feelings about paper-thin walls.

⭐ IRC: Loved it   |   ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Andrea: 4 Stars

Eric and Andrea are back with their review of Hope Valley 1874 Episode 3, "Good Prospects." Rebecca's mess tent, the Olivia/Alexander/Clayton love triangle, a standout new character in Phoebe the beekeeper, and why Bethany Joy Lenz is simply operating at a different level than everyone else on screen.

Eric and Andrea are back in 1874 for Episode 2 of Hope Valley 1874, "All in a Dream," and things are starting to pick up. Rebecca gets resourceful when Tom shuts her down on lumber for the boarding house, Mounty Alexander steps in to mediate a rancher vs. prospector conflict, and we're getting our first real hints at what Rebecca is running from.

The verdict? It's better than the premiere. Bethany Joy Lenz continues to carry every scene with her nonverbals and pure enthusiasm for the role, and the plots are finally developing beyond introductions. Benjamin Ayres is growing into the cowboy thing (Andrea says give him one more episode), Lachlan Quarmby is becoming a standout as Alexander, and the love triangle with Clayton and Olivia is taking shape. Eric has some thoughts on Rebecca's historically bold lipstick, the land ownership drama has the history buff in him hooked, and both hosts are intrigued by where Rebecca's backstory is headed.

Plus: Is there any actual romantic tension between Tom and Rebecca? Team Alexander or Team Clayton? And would Eric even be watching this if Jill Hennessy wasn't in it?

Eric and Andrea review A Royal Setting starring Jen Lilley and Dan Jeannotte, and this one didn't land. Despite two charming leads and an entertaining supporting cast, A Royal Setting checks every single royal movie box without bringing anything new to the table. Fake country, questionable accent, overbearing royal assistant, commoner gets sent away, commoner comes back. You've seen it before. You'll see it again.

The highlight? The royal guard (Fred/George, as Andrea dubbed him), who stole every scene he was in. Jen Lilley brings her usual energy and charm, and the Xander/Jory friendship was a pleasant surprise, but the script never gives any of them enough to work with. Andrea gave it two stars, and Eric wasn't far behind. If you love royal Hallmark movies, this might still work for you. For everyone else, it's a tough sit.

Plus: all the May 2026 Hallmark movie announcements, Mystery 101 April Fools chaos, Hannah Swensen and True Justice updates, and the Murdoch Mysteries streaming controversy.

We explore the connection to When Calls the Heart, the significance of the "Hope Valley" vs. "Coal Valley" name change, and our initial thoughts on the new cast of characters. In this episode of the Hallmark Mysteries and More podcast, hosts Art and Andrea take a deep dive into the latest Hannah Swensen Mystery: Sugar and Spice. While the duo loves a good costume party and a "closed-room" murder mystery, this installment left them craving more substance and a lot less predictability.

We break down everything from the extravagant costumes (shoutout to the mermaid look!) to the disappointing lack of screen time for Victor Webster. Is the series suffering from the loss of the original Murder She Baked energy, or is it just getting a little "stale"? We discuss the killer’s identity, the "mandrae-y" plot, and whether the chemistry between Hannah and Chad is actually heating up.

Plus, we touch on some literary news including Lacey Chabert's new series and our current favorite mystery reads. Stick around for our "Mystery Minute" and see if you agree with our 3/5 star rating!

In this episode of Hallmark, Mysteries, and More, we get honest about the lack of chemistry in Stars Between Us, despite the stunning celestial backdrop. Then, we head over to New Mexico for Romance at Hope Ranch, where we discuss the odd timelines, the scene-stealing chicken, and whether the "Giddy Up Gala" lived up to its name.

We also touch on our favorite PBS shows, the reality of daylight savings, and why the goat cheese balls at Vanderpump’s restaurant are... controversial.
