Vaccine eligibility in Hamilton and across the province has been updated. As of yesterday, all Ontarians who received their first dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine on or before May 9, 2021 are eligible to book or re-book their second dose appointment at a shortened interval. And as of Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 8:00 a.m., individuals who received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 30, 2021 -- and who live in a Delta hot spot (Durham, Halton, Hamilton, Peel, Porcupine, Simcoe-Muskoka, Toronto, Waterloo, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, and York public health units) -- will be eligible to book or re-book their second dose appointment at a shortened interval.

The president of the Public Health Agency of Canada is now the first non-MP in more than a 100 years to receive a formal reprimand from the House of Commons. The move is the latest escalation in a heated political row over the government’s refusal to hand over documents related to the firing of two scientists from the National Microbiology Lab in 2019.

“The cycle of scandals followed by studies, recommendations for independent oversight, half-solutions, and resistance by the Department or the Canadian Armed Forces will only be broken when action is taken,” military ombudsman Gregory Lick told a news conference Tuesday in Ottawa. Lick released a position paper, along with draft legislation, that would allow his office to report directly to Parliament — rather than to the defence minister — and would mandate leaders to respond to his office’s recommendations within timelines set by him.
