In 2015 when Richard Lee was a BC MLA, he travelled to China. When Lee was in China, he was detained and his phone was searched by Chinese authorities. He did report it to his caucus at the time but did not go public. However, in 2018, he did report it via a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau and then Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland. He did not hear back. Now he is coming forward to warn Canadians about China’s increasingly surreptitious encroachment into Canadian society
