A B.C. teacher was suspended last week, partly for showing students some edgy YouTube videos. The videos in question included installments of ‘Salad Fingers,’ ‘asdfmovie’ and ‘Don’t Hug Me, I’m Scared.’ Some consider these surreal and sometimes unnerving videos to be classics of the internet, and ‘DHMIS’ went so viral after its creation that Conan O’Brien is now working on developing a TV series based on it.
But all this raises questions about what young kids are finding online, at what age “weird” humour is appropriate, and how little parents and adults understand about the world of online media. With all this in mind, Scott Radley talks with Dr. Lori Getz, to get answers.
Guest: Lori Getz M.A, instructional technologist based in Los Angeles, Cyber Education Consultants
