The number of people using food banks across the country surged to an all-time high earlier this year, with high inflation and low social assistance rates cited as key factors in the rise, a new report from Food Banks Canada indicates. Pierre Poilievre has made a habit of successfully dodging questions from journalists on Parliament Hill over the past 40 days. The number of so-called Code Zeroes – a situation when just one ambulance or even no ambulances are available to respond to an emergency – has soared to a new record high in Hamilton. NDP MPP Sandy Shaw is set to debate her new private members bill for addressing the Code Zero problem. She joins us now to discuss the issue, how she believes the bill will help, and what happens if the bill does not succeed tonight. Ontario has filed an application for judicial review seeking to quash a summons for Premier Doug Ford to testify at the Emergencies Act inquiry in Ottawa. One of the many issues swirling around the Emergencies Act Inquiry is the line between policing and politics. We look at where that line is drawn, especially in regard to what took place in Ottawa earlier this year, and the context of the Emergencies Act.
