Yesterday the Prime Minister (only in French) announced plans to cease importing Russian crude oil and now Canada’s relationship with Russian oil is under the microscope, Dan McTeague joins Scott for more on that. Russia is finding itself more isolated and under the pressure of sanctions, while it presses on with war in Ukraine. What does that mean for its relationship with China? Well Charles Burton has some answers for Scott on that. As well with the effects of Canada’s, the US and UK’s sanctions on the Ruble, what does it mean for a nation like Russia to experience the collapse of its currency? Dr. Eric Kam joins Scott for that. Scott started today off talking about Russian vodka being pulled from LCBO shelves and swiftly the Prime Minister gave an announcement of Canada’s contributions to Ukraine’s war effort both militarily for Ukraine and economically against Russia. Among the mentioned sanctions was Canada no longer importing crude oil from Russia. Scott wonders why we are importing crude oil from Russia in the first place!? Christian Leuprecht also wonders this as he and Scott speak about Russia’s strategy now. Elliot Tepper also gave us insight on if Vladimir Putin knows things are not going the way he wanted them to, and what the global outcry may – or may not – mean to him.
