Join Adele & Tom with team members from the DesOrmeaux Foundation’s Women’s Center of Lafayette as they discuss how Theology of the Body is starting to play a key role in assisting  Women and their families in crisis situations.  For 23 years the DesOrmeaux Foundation has been a place of refuge for women in need of life giving resources, life planning, shelter and a place for someone to just listen and offer comfort.  Recently the Foundation’s Founder, Brenda DesOrmeaux, decided to add Theology of the Body to its several programs designed to help Women dealing with life’s burdens and it’s starting to make a difference in ways she didn’t imagine.  Listen-in as we share how St. John Paul II’s life changing teachings are helping not only the Women’s Center’s clients with their lives and struggles but the employees are also benefiting in their personal and family lives.

Welcome to our 1st ever multi-tasking production podcast.  In this 1st part of a 2 part series we wanted to share a short summary of what guides our subjects, comments, responses and story ideas here on Handbook for Humanity, The Theology of the Body. So what is Theology of the Body?  We thought it would be interesting to answer this question by recording a live presentation from our Theology of the Body Community of Acadiana Founder, Adele Guillot.  This event was recorded live on the campus of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA where Adele summarized St. John Paul II's 129 homilies that make up TOB in front of the parents of the parish's CCD classes.  Enjoy as Adele uses her unique, straightforward presenting style to unpack JPII's invitation for all people in all circumstances to recognize that our bodies are stamped by God with an invitation to love.  

Is pornography causing a health crisis in multiple states?  In part 4 of our our series, The Naked Truth about porn, Colby, Becki, Adele and Tom ask that question to Louisiana's Top Legal Officer, Attorney General Jeff Landry.  Listen in as A.G. Landry shares some shocking statistics on the increase in child abuse cases involving pornography as well as his team's "Protecting Innocence" report that sheds a bright light on ways to protect children from obscenities in public libraries.  In addition, with the help of Landry, our team was given access to talk to David Farris who heads Louisiana's Cyber Crimes unit.  Farris discusses how he and his team of agents are battling an overwhelming number of disturbing violent sexual crime cases involving children from infant to teens.  This episode will be difficult to listen to but you will want to stay until the end when Farris shares what citizens can do to help his team in the fight against pornography.

How damaging is pornography to relationships?  In the second part of our series, The Naked Truth about Porn, Becki, Colby and Tom welcome Greg Broussard to the show to share the effects of pornography on relationships as seen through his experience as a facilitator of a Divorce Recovery ministry in the Diocese of Lafayette.  Greg's valuable insights cover subjects ranging from pornography user denial, to victim's feelings of adultery to the possibilities of healing and how to go about it.
