Handling Fear | Psalm 56:1-13

Listen Later

Fear can grip us when we feel life is out of control, and that’s what happened to David when he was hiding from King Saul. David, Instead of running from his fears, with God’s help he faced them.
David honestly admitted his fears. He admitted the Enemy was against him. We won’t win the victory if we pretend the enemy is not there or if we try to suppress our fears. David’s enemies were chasing him like ferocious animals. It was a matter of life and death. David admitted his fears and trusted in God.
David humbly confessed his faith. He spoke about God, not his enemies. David clung to the Word of God and did not back out of his commitment to Him just because he was going through trouble. God’s protection and provision brought forth David’s prayer and praise.
Although everything may seem stacked against you, God is on your side, admit your fear and then turn to the Word of God. Trust in His promises to protect and provide. God knows who you are, where you are and what you’re up against. Your faith will overcome your fear and lead to praise God like David.
_Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation._ —Isaiah 12:2
