Happily Ever Aftermath

Diana is officially buried in Austen comfort picks with Persuasion (2022). To be fair, it was a podcast opportunity after having a movie date with her mom. Ryan and Diana join a few weeks late to the party to just in time to side with the backlash to the backlash to this film.

Happy to find a movie with very low stakes, Diana's pick is the recent release, Mr. Malcolm's List (2022). Pride and Predjudice comparisons ensue. Ryan points out Diana's list for good period pieces may also be a bit like the eponymous hero's.

In 19th-century England, jilted by London's most eligible bachelor, Julia convinces her friend to play the role of his ideal match. Soon, Mr. Malcolm wonders whether he's found the perfect woman or the perfect hoax. Stars Freida Pinto, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Zawe Ashton, Theo James, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Ashley Park. A New York icon of style and sophistication is back and wanted to talk about Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961). There is no denying the significant impact the movie had on young Polina. Diana comes with some lyrics of that song.

An episode planned before the first one was ever recorded, Diana nervously brings her pick Circle of Friends (1995). A good portion of her history with the movie is being unavailable to watch it during her entire career as a podcaster. This was finally resolved thanks to a shiny Blu-Ray arriving on her doorstep from the lovely (and all-star friend of the show) Meg. Despite being unfamiliar with the film, Ryan is quick to understand why it had a lasting impact on his wife.

In defense of the animal cracker scene, Diana and Ryan share how they have equally silly relationship moments.

Alluded to and now delivered, Erin Barry is back to talk about Dirty Work (1998). Imagine teenage Erin and Diana walking around high school with their tape recorders saying "Note to self…". Even though much of this movie does not hold up, they still hold a deep respect for Norm MacDonald's style of comedy. The rest of the episode consists quoting the movie back and forth. Ridiculous.
