I HATE COFFEE and I live in Seattle. Not only do I live in Seattle and dislike drinks of the java persuasion, now I am also posting a podcast called "Thanks A Latte." What is wrong with this picture?!? I must admit however, that while I do HATE COFFEE, one of my favorite things about Seattle and the great Northwest is the coffee scene. So go ahead and hit that play button and find out why.

Welcome to episode #2 in our "Whatcha Thankin'" series. So, why post a whole Thanksgiving series instead of a single, one shot, special Thanksgiving episode? It's simple. Halloween is over, which means it's time to take off the mask and move on towards Thanksgiving, the 2nd Holiday in this wonderful Holiday season. This episode is part 1 in our Thanksgiving podcast series "Whatcha Thankin'?!?". In it we talk about seeking God's face. What does that even mean and why is it so important to God?!?

Seeking God's face...what does that even mean? It might not mean what you think it does. So...do you like to pray? Many do not, and it's all because they miss this one major thing. Did you know we have a Pregnancy And Infant Loss (PAIL) awareness month in America? Neither did I until one of our Happy Lifers revealed it to me. So we, my wife and I, interviewed her on the topic.
It's amazing what can happen when someone doesn't deal with the crappy that life throws at them. Inversely, it is amazing as well when someone deals correctly with the crappy that happens. Here is a very powerful story that will inspire you. This episode went longer than the usual. In fact, this is our longest one to date, but the topic was too tender, vulnerable and intense to just end it after 10 or 15 minutes. You've probably heard it said "Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." In the same way, most of us love to see miracles, but nobody wants to need one. Unfortunately, we can't have one without the other. So, if you've faced, or are currently facing, a loss, whether it's a miscarriage or something else, there is hope! You are not alone! Listen, be encouraged, and let hope arise.

In this episode I talk about a valuable lesson I learned from my friend's wonderful kids the other night.
You've probably heard the statement "the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys" before. I like me. I like me not. I like me. I like me not. Have you ever felt that way? Some moments you love who you are and then some days you can't bear to look in the mirror. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. I was there recently. You know, I think that sometimes it's not that we dislike ourselves, it's that we dislike where we are at. For instance, no one expects anyone to be happy about a hurricane, but we can find happy in the midst of one.

"Have you ever thought that happy life is for somebody else? That you're never going to attain it?" Or have you ever felt "If I could just attain that, I'd be happy? If I could get that person's money. If I could have that person's job. If I could get that person's life somehow, then I'd be happy." Or, "if I could get rid of this part of my life. If I could get rid of this part of my personality. If I could get rid of this negative situation that's going on, then I could be happy."

For all of you that have been hit by hurricanes the last couple weeks, our hearts and prayers go out to you. Maybe you are going through a personal hurricane currently. Our hearts go out to you as well. We had a podcast already planned out for this week, but really wanted to send out one that would encourage those who have lost so much the last couple weeks. I don't know about you, but I've found that when someone pushes me, (whether it's physical, emotional, verbal etc.) I find myself wanting to push back...real bad! Question is, are you in charge of your emotions, or are your emotions in charge of you? Because emotions love to bully us around. You will find that if you stand up to your emotions, they will back down and change their tune real fast. This is important to our happy because you can't plant sadness and then harvest happiness, just like you can't plant corn and expect strawberries. It's impossible. So plant happy and you'll harvest happy.
