There was a time when culture meant the culture of “White Anglo-Saxon-Protestants.” It occupied the center, demanding that the rest of the world submit and conform to it. Thankfully, those days are in the past, for we are now surrounded by diverse cultures with a level playing field and appreciating for our differences. Nevertheless, this, otherwise, wonderful development has produced a problem of different sort, one in which no truth is deemed binding everywhere and at all times. There is a name for this: cultural relativism, which has begotten moral, epistemological, and philosophical pluralisms. I am going to talk about what’s going in the Black community and, to some, I have no business doing so since I am an Asian, that is, someone who is outside of the culture of Black American.
