Hardcore Haven

It's a watch-along! The heat is turned up and the sweat and blood are flyin'... Don't miss our first attempt at what people have been doing with their wrestling podcasts for time immemorial. Hear us react *LIVE* (to tape) to such exciting events as: Luna Vachon vs Steve Richards in a steel cage; Hack Myers vs Val Puccio - all over again??; Bill Alfonso's comeuppance, at long last; Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero tagging with their dream partners; all kinds of shenanigans. Don't miss out! Stay cool behind the paywall. We've just added our lowest-priced tier ever. It's a 3 week push for only $1.00!!! https://www.patreon.com/hardcorehaven Theme song by Booji Bomb.

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episode 115 and 116 of ECW, from July 4th & 11th, 1995.

The Public Enemy take on the debuting Gangstas! Cactus Jack takes on The Sandman - yet again! Shane Douglas looks like he's got something to say! Does he? Bill Alfonso certainly has his share of heat to garner, too. Taz takes on 2 Cold and The Pitbulls are trying to make a change - for once in their lives. All this and Val Puccio, too. It's all part of what can only be described as "an ECW show from mid-1995". And if that's not enough, we're also going to post the video version with the previous night's event MOUNTAINTOP MADNESS playing in the background. It's a smorgasbord for the senses.

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episodes 113 and 114 of ECW, from June 20th & 27th, 1995.

Also discussed: the philosophy of soup; sophomoric humour; the effects of divorce on underwear; dispassionate V/O; Ellen's mic collection; a deep analysis of Paul Heyman; how no vampire should have an ex-wife; armchair ADHD diagnoses; resentment of early risers and how the dead can't fart; oh, and we get real big picture way too often.

This week's guest: James Avramenko, host of Friendless.

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review BARBED WIRE, HOODIES & CHOKE SLAMS from June 17th, 1995! Get the full review as a fan on Patreon! patreon.com/hardcorehaven

We're back with a whole new logo (designed by Raymond Biesinger) a new pair of theme songs, and a new way more expensive lease on life. Season 2 of Hardcore Haven kicks off with the debut of one of the most anticipated arrivals in ECW History -- the Vampire War - just kidding, it's The Gangstas! Oops, spoiler alert.

We've also a whole lotta Bill Alfonso, like 9 chokeslams from 911 (they make a very big deal about it), cheap heat galore, and a barbed wire match in the main event between Cactus Jack and The Sandman! We got to all of it eventually.

Up next - the premiere of Season 2 of Hardcore Haven. Nothing will ever be the same!

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episodes 113 and 114 of ECW, from...oh, hell, this sucks.

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episodes 111 and 112 of ECW, from June 6th & 13th, 1995.

The ECW demolition derby car is so hot it's on fire! Feuds are teased and not much happens! Luke and Brendan have a falling out and this podcast will never be the same again!!!!!

Also discussed: our search for a domain name, the prestige of the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, Robert Zombert's lyricism, the proto-Tim Burton style and Winona's cultural status, taking down the male genius, the day jobs of jobbers, people who own swords, Mike Myers and high-effort duds, how to pronounce German vowels, and a candy-coated debate that might be the end of this podcast - FOREVER.

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review ENTER THE SANDMAN from May 13th, 1995. The Sandman defends his ECW title for the first - and second - time ever! We witness the Malenko and Guerrero rematch! Bill Alfonso is here to troubleshoot! Luna Vachon debuts, technically. All of this is really making it sound like a good show that we liked, but as you'll discover it is not and we did not. There's also a tag team dog collar slog, too many run-ins, and a lot of misguided word choices. Here's our review of ENTER THE SANDMAN - a show we watched so you don't have to! Full episode here:

It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episodes 109 and 110 of ECW, from May 23rd and 30th, 1995.

Enter the Sandman is excerpted and recapped! The Tazmaniac becomes Taz and Peter Senerchia does commentary! Cactus Jack is turning 30 - and he recites a spoken word poem about it!

Also discussed: the evisceration of a boy named Klaas (sorry buddy), Serj Tankian's poetry, hitting home runs into left field, poorly named tag teams and awful signs, the best thing since "fresh fruit" according to Luke, billionaire office decor, and a whole lot more. We're crazy for this one. Please email us about factual errors.
