HardLore

Our guest this week is... YOU! We figured we'd heard from plenty of musician's about their favorite hardcore records ever, why not ask the people?

We hit the street at FYA Fest 2025 to talk to the heart of this community, the attendees, in order to find out what they considered all time hardcore classics.

We also wanted to hear about the wildest thing they witnessed while at FYA Fest for the weekend.

HardLore is joined in-person by Jamie Muckinhaupt, AKA Jamie Pushbutton. You may not recognize him, but any fan of hardcore music as we know it today will certainly recognize his drumming.

Depending on who you ask, he is as much myth as he is legend… Jamie is the original drummer of Death Threat (performing on “Last Dayz” and “Peace & Security”) and mostly notably was the drummer on Hatebreed’s groundbreaking debut album “Satisfaction is the Death of Desire”, where his performance was the inimitable backbone to an instant classic.

After making multiple modern day landmark hardcore albums, you would assume he spent his entire adult life on the road, but that wouldn’t be the case… An abrupt move to Colorado, drugs, and ultimately seven years in prison would end up defining the 2000s for Jamie.

…and now he’s on HardLore to tell us all about it.

HardLore is joined by our 2024 Album of the Year Award Winners for a very special in-person episode!

Vocalist and Mike Ryan and drummer Paul Dove sat with us at FYA fest and told us all about their personal paths to finding hardcore music, meeting each other, touring and playing in other bands, and eventually starting Missing Link many years later,

We go in depth about the making of their incredible debut album “Watch Me Bleed” and get into the inner minds of one of the best hardcore bands going today, and finally get to the bottom of who was peeking in his window.

HardLore presents our 3rd annual recap of the festival that rings in each calendar year for hardcore music! This year emanating from Orlando, Florida. Featuring FYA Fest founder Bob Wilson and longtime stage manager and friend of the show John Scanlon to go into detail about putting the lineup together, the logistics of running the fest, and a band by band breakdown of both days.

A band's name is your first impression, and sometimes it's all you need to hear to know you'll be a fan... Sometimes it's the opposite, and you know it'll never be for you.

Either way, a band name is the source of their identity and eventually loses all textbook meaning, remaining only as a powerful symbol of the music it represents.

These are our favorites, and least favorites.

For the very first time... HardLore and The Downbeat (Craig Reynolds) together at last.

Two podcasts finally collide LIVE at a sold out event in Buffalo, New York before Better Lovers' second annual Holiday show: Blissmas.

Filmed live by our good buddy Rob Menzer (New York HardLore series) and edited in record time by our main man Steven 197, enjoy this incredibly special live episode of both shows in one. We do all our stuff and bits and things. It rocked.

Thanks to Tom Williams for making it happen and Craig for being awesome/accommodating with getting this video out ASAP.

It's HardLore Christmas time! We're ringing in with December (AKA the best time of year) with a classic Q&A special, where we answer more than 2 hours of questions from the HardLore audience.

We also get into how Deadbody playing AEW happened, our thoughts on Knocked Loose playing Kimmel, and much more!
