HardLore

HardLore is joined by close friend of the show and vocalist of the first ever band on the HardLore Records roster: Mac Miller (real name) of COSMIC JOKE. Fresh off of their brand new 12" EP "Forced Perspective", we hear all about their goal as a band to carry the torch for the classic style of California Hardcore Punk made famous by their influences (Bad Religion, Adolescents, Circle Jerks, etc...) and the long road as lifelong touring musicians and crew that got them there.

From growing up at the Cobalt Cafe, connecting the dots between Ska and Hardcore, doing Warped Tour with The Sheds, finally playing Sound & Fury, transitioning into being a career merch guy for bands like Wallows, Death Cab, Denzel Curry and MUCH, much more.

All three bands are members of the HARDLORE RECORDS roster and they're battling to find out who is the smartest on the label (at meaningless HardLore-picked word trivia)

HardLore is joined by COMBUST vocalist Andrew Vacante, the self proclaimed, but unopposed king of Staten Island hardcore fresh off of their highly acclaimed sophomore LP, "BELLY OF THE BEAST."

Andrew finally joins us for a proper full length episode, documenting his origin from middle school heavy metal hesher singing in bands, to his early days DIY screenprinting in a basement, touring extensively in Vice (NY), the many bands that lead him to finally starting Combust, touring Europe (six times), forming his skills as a songwriter and breaking down their new record.

This marks Andrew's 3rd formal appearance on HardLore but his first proper episode, we knew going in that would be a banger and he immediately delivered. Enjoy and listen to Combust!!!

PS sorry to all the Sharks out there if you're listening. FREE OLA.

The doctor is in, please take a seat. We're joined in person by hilarious and universally beloved friend of the show, the wickedly talented vocalist/guitarist of PITY SEX: Dr. Britty Drake.

We go into great detail about Britty's expulsion from high school due to a (joke) violent threat on Myspace and the extensive aftermath, her upbringing from young Christian Metalcore fan experimenting with many haircuts in Lansing, MI to Indie Shoegaze pioneer extensively touring the country, taking a break from music to become a literal DOCTOR of the mind, balancing work and home life with her husband/bandmate Mike, playing live with Pity Sex in 2025 & beyond and much, much, more!

A truly delightful episode with our great friend that we had as much fun recording as we did watching it back. Pity Sex is here to stay, baby! Enjoy.

We proudly present our first ever comedian on HardLore, in person in Los Angeles: The great (almost legendary) Shapel Lacey! Lifelong hardcore punk listener, former cheerleading champion, and comedian on the rapid rise who proudly flies the flag for hardcore music every single time he hits the stage.

We learn all about Shapel's origin from being a young Mesa, AZ hardcore kid at the Nile Underground discovering the wonders of Black Flag, to University of Louisville cheerleader trying comedy on a whim at an open mic night, touring with Bert Kreischer on a bus and then headlining rooms on his own, all the way to his finding his latest love of modern hardcore in 2020 and beyond.

Shapel rules and we had an incredible time getting to know him in real time as this episode progressed, and we think you'll all enjoy it just as much as we did.

After releasing their 4th EP ("Love Songs") in 6 years via Daze, Brandon joins us to talk about the origin of the band, RBS, his preference for music made after 2008, the SPLASH ZONE, the unexpected growth of Big Boy/what it means for the future of the band and much much more.

We had a blast getting inside the mind of one of the most naturally charismatic frontmen in hardcore today. Enjoy.
