When you are buying a house, one of the most important things to do is to have the foundation inspected. A home with a poor foundation is going to have lots of problems over the years, if they aren’t there already! And if you don’t build your life on a good foundation, you will also see problems develop over time. Pastor Jeff reminds you today that God is the best foundation you could ever build your life on! You can trust Him with your entire life, and He will never lie or mislead you.
Have you ever walked out of church and realized you already forgot what the sermon was about? The fact is that when we’ve been going to church for a long time, it can be easy to just sit in our seat and go through the motions, without taking the effort to grow in our relationship with Jesus. Well, Pastor Jeff encourages us to break out of that cycle! Instead of letting today’s message wash over you, take the time after this program to think about how you can apply what you learn to your daily walk with the Lord.
The Bible reminds us that people have been living and dying for thousands of years. What one person may consider to be a lifetime is only a blip in the history of the universe. That’s why we shouldn’t be surprised when Pastor Jeff tells us that we’re living in the last days! There are signs around us that tell us that the world as we know it won’t stay the same for long. But we’re also reminded that the best is yet to come for this world, because after it’s all said and done, God will establish His eternal Kingdom!
If you’ve been paying attention to this series on the book of Daniel, you know that God has been protecting Daniel since the very start! And God doesn’t just protect His children from fiery furnaces and hungry lions. Pastor Jeff teaches you today that there is a war going on in the spiritual realm, where God’s angels battle with the forces of hell to protect you from harm. For every story of God’s protection, there are hundreds more times where God saved us from attacks we didn’t even know about.
God didn’t tell you the story of the whole world just so you could have some sort of special knowledge of the last days! Pastor Jeff reminds you today that you’ve been given this prophecy of the End Times so that you can warn others of the coming destruction. At the end of it all, the Lord is going to judge everyone who has ever lived, and those who lived in sin will face eternal separation from God. As we hurtle toward the Last Days, remember that time is running out to share the Gospel with others!
Daniel knew something about the corrupting power of sin that you and I would do well to learn today. See, sin corrupts everything and everyone it touches. Pastor Jeff reminds us today that even though Daniel does not have a single recorded instance of sin in the Bible, he was most certainly not perfect! His sin counted in God’s ledger just as much as the sins of those who had broken all Ten Commandments! All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and we all need a Savior.
Pastor Jeff is right! The church isn’t holy because of the building it meets in. You’re not getting closer to God just because the lights were dimmed just right for the worship team and the coffee from the foyer was brewed at the perfect temperature. We’re reminded today that the church is holy because of the believers who gather within it to worship Jesus! You can make any space in this world into a holy place if you use it to gather believers into a time of worship, prayer, and fellowship.
It’s a somber thought to think that you could lose out on your salvation. After all, the Bible reminds you time and time again that nothing can separate you from the love of God! Well, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that those who have decided to reject Jesus outright have indeed shut themselves off from His saving power. Jesus isn’t a tyrant, and He won’t force someone who doesn’t want anything to do with Him into a relationship. But once you choose to reject Him, there’s no going back.
Have you ever been betrayed by your closest friend? It can feel like a dagger to the chest, seeing the person who you trusted more than anyone turn away from you, and treat you like their enemy. Well, Pastor Jeff reminds you today that Peter did exactly that when he denied Jesus three times! But yet, the Lord was still ready to forgive His disciple and friend. After Jesus’ resurrection, He restored Peter to be by His side once again, and He will do the same for you, even when you backslide into sin.
By studying history, we can see how the kingdoms of this world rise and fall. And even though the nations of our day have more power than the world powers that came before, we can have certainty that every nation we know of today will come to an end! Pastor Jeff reminds us today that the kings and kingdoms of this world are mortal and impermanent, but the Kingdom of God is the only kingdom that will last forever! You and I get to be citizens of that eternal Kingdom because of our identity in Christ.
