(AURN News) — A new Washington Post-Schar School Deciders poll has revealed that the race for the White House remains exceptionally close between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, with just weeks to go before Election Day. The survey, conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, shows the candidates tied at 47% each when averaged across key battleground states, setting the stage for an intense final stretch of campaigning.

The poll provides a detailed look at the state of the race in seven crucial swing states that could ultimately decide the election. In Arizona, Trump holds a significant lead over Harris, 50% to 44%. The tide turns in Georgia, where Harris maintains an identical 50% to 44% advantage. Michigan presents the tightest contest, with Trump narrowly ahead by just one percentage point, 47% to 46%. Nevada leans towards Harris, who leads 47% to 44%, while Trump holds a slight edge in North Carolina, 49% to 45%. Pennsylvania, often considered a must-win state, currently favors Harris with a 49% to 46% lead. Wisconsin rounds out the battlegrounds, with Harris ahead 50% to 46%.

The poll also shed light on the issues driving voter concerns in these pivotal states. Inflation and rising prices topped the list, with 66% of registered voters citing it as an important issue. The economy followed closely behind at 65%, underscoring the centrality of financial concerns in this election cycle. Notably, threats to democracy in the United States emerged as the third most pressing issue, with 61% of voters expressing concern.
