Harrisonville Church of the Nazarene

When we feel God’s absence, it does not mean God is absent, it means God is working on us.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." As Christians, we know this to be true, but there are times we face problems that overwhelm us. It is during those times that we need to remember that God promises not that we will avoid the valleys of life, but that he will be there to walk with us through them.

When life is chaotic, it is okay to pray chaotic prayers. Sometimes you just need to start off with your prayer as David does in Psalm 35, "Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me." David was facing crisis, his life was chaotic, and he didn't need to waste his time putting together a nice pretty prayer for God - he needed to lift up his heart to God, to let him know exactly what was going on.

Sometimes we suffer in this world because of things that happen to us, and we have no control over them. But sometimes the suffering is the consequence of our own actions. We will see in today's sermon that God desires to give us healing and freedom from sin, but it comes at a cost: Confession and Repentance.

Missionaries David and Tabita Gonzalez share the Good News with us this morning, that God does not desire for us to simply know about Him or try to live the Christian life under our own power. God's desire is for us to embrace his call for us to serve Him under the power of his Spirit!

David and Tabita Gonzalez shared during our Sunday School hour about their personal testimonies, how God encountered them when they were young and their call to missionary service.

Nazarene Missionary Stephane Tibi speaks to us about his experiences in the mission field, first in Reunion Island and then in the Central Field of Africa, and how God instilled in him a new understanding of prayer and it's central role in the life of a Christian.

The good life begins in the fear of God—Do that and you’ll know the blessing of God.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. (Ps. 37:39)

We are beloved Children of God called upon to live out the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ to a world that desperately needs to know true love.
