This week Barb Beard will be sharing with us from Matthew 7:13, 14. “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

This week join us as Pastor Jeremy shares about “Redeeming Our Failures” from Genesis 42.

Joseph is one of the most inspiring characters in all the scripture: whether he is in the palace or the prison he never stops following the Lord. Joseph's brothers, on the other hand, are so awful they decide there is not enough in it for them if they just murder Joseph so they sell him into slavery instead. Joseph encounters many setbacks but God always works everything for his good because Joseph trusts in the Lord. The AMAZING thing about this story though is not about Joseph - its about his brothers. When the brothers trust in the Lord, the Lord works it all for THEIR good too. Now THAT is a merciful and amazing God, and I need a God who is that big, that he can work even my own failures for my good!

"The Lord is with Joseph, taking the plans that Satan has to destroy Joseph and turning the tables to use those plans to instead bless Joseph. God is turning his setbacks into success, and Joseph later uses the very things he learns during those setbacks to bring success. In the end Joseph forgets all of his hardship. We learn to remain faithful to the Lord and never give up our faith so we can see the Lord do the same thing in our lives!"

This Sunday Pastor Jeremy continues our series “Turning the Tables” with a message from Genesis 39 about how God takes our setbacks and uses them to bring success.

God has good plans for your darkest moments. He did for Joseph, the victim, but also for his brothers, the perpetrators. Maybe you’ve been less than perfect, we all have. But God has a plan to use your darkest moments and even your own sin, to bring good into your life. Just turn and follow Him.

To fully appreciate Jesus' forgiveness and love, we must understand the debt created by our sins. Jesus didn't just forgive us of something small that wasn't noteworthy, he forgave us of serious sin. The focus however is not on our sin, but His Forgiveness! Understanding the depth of our forgiveness will expand the depth of our love for Him!

This week, Barb Beard will be sharing about the purpose of our life. Why do you exist? Why do you get up in the morning? What is your purpose? What is HCC’s purpose? Knowing our purpose adds to our understanding of how we live in unity with our family in Christ (from last weeks’ message).

Read Psalm 145 and look at the many reasons we have to praise Him every day. We were made to worship Him!

Eph. 1:12 AMP So that we who hope in Christ (who have put our confidence in Him) have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of His glory!

John 17 is remarkable in many ways because we see what was on Jesus’s heart for His disciples shortly before He faced His death. This Sunday we’ll look at just one of the requests Jesus made in this prayer—Jesus prayed that we would be one. Several times in this prayer He prayed about our unity as believers. It’s no doubt that unity is of utmost importance to Him. It’s vitally important to our witness! As you read John 17 and Philippians 2:1-8, think about what unity in our body looks like. Barb Beard will be sharing this week.
