Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present so you can think clearly, manage stress, and perform at your best.
By learning to focus on the present moment, you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and actions. This helps you make better decisions, build resilience, improve relationships, and create healthier habits both in life and at work.

A healthy mindset is not something people either have or lack. It is a set of patterns, and patterns can be trained.
Most thoughts arrive so quickly that they feel like facts. One small setback turns into “I always mess things up.” One tense conversation becomes “Nothing ever goes well for me.” Over time, those thoughts shape mood, choices, relationships, and even how the body handles stress.
Positive thinking does not mean pretending life is easy. It means learning to meet life with steadier thoughts, better questions, and more realistic hope. The goal is not to force happiness. The goal is to build a mind that can notice difficulty without getting trapped inside.

People often ask why I call it Digital Mind AI? The answer is simple. I believe coaching should always start with the human connection, but I also know I can’t be there 24/7. It’s trained using my coaching philosophy, experiences, and insights from many of the outstanding coaches and mentors I’ve had the privilege to learn from throughout my career.

The idea for this podcast came from an unexpected place.
The other day I was walking into Target when I overheard a woman talking with her husband and son. During their conversation, she said, “Less is more.” A few moments later, she said it again.
It caught my attention because those three simple words carry a powerful message. In today’s world, we’re constantly told to do more, buy more, learn more, and achieve more. Yet many of the happiest, healthiest, and highest-performing people have learned the opposite. Less is often more.
It reminded me of a story about former NHL player Dean Kennedy. Dean once told me that his goal wasn’t to play 15 or 20 years in professional hockey. He simply wanted to play 10 years in the NHL. That was his focus. He wasn’t distracted by everything that might happen after that. He committed to one meaningful goal, worked relentlessly toward it, and achieved it.
Sometimes we try to accomplish so much that we end up accomplishing very little. A healthy mindset isn’t about adding more to your life. It’s about identifying what matters most and giving it your full attention.
Here are my Top 10 Reasons Why Less Is More:
Remember, the goal isn’t to do more. The goal is to do what matters most. When you remove the distractions and focus on what truly moves the needle, you’ll often discover that less really is more.

Everyone loves a comeback story, but real change rarely happens overnight.
Former Major League Baseball player J.J. Davis experienced success, setbacks, and life lessons that ultimately led him down a different path. When I asked J.J. what had the biggest impact on helping him move forward and create positive change in his life, he shared ten simple but powerful influences.
These are the ten things J.J. believes helped shape the person he is today.
1. God
For J.J., faith became the foundation. It gave him hope during difficult times, guidance when he felt lost, and strength to continue moving forward when life became challenging.
2. Prison
Most people see prison only as punishment. J.J. views it differently. It forced him to slow down, reflect, and take an honest look at his choices. What could have been the end of his story became a turning point.
3. Wife
Having someone who believed in him and supported him through life’s challenges made a significant difference. Her encouragement helped provide stability and motivation during difficult times.
4. Failure
J.J. learned that failure can be one of life’s greatest teachers. Instead of allowing mistakes to define him, he chose to learn from them and use them as fuel for growth.
5. Family
Family helped remind him of what truly matters. Success means little if it comes at the expense of the people who care about you most.
6. Purpose
Having a purpose creates direction. J.J. found meaning beyond personal achievements and discovered the importance of contributing to something bigger than himself.
7. People
The people we surround ourselves with influence our future. Positive relationships, mentors, and supportive individuals helped him stay focused on becoming a better version of himself.
8. Structure
Change requires consistency. Structure helped J.J. develop routines, create accountability, and replace unhealthy habits with productive ones.
9. Health and Wellness
Taking care of the body and mind became a priority. Physical health, mental well-being, and daily self-care helped create a stronger foundation for long-term success.
10. Eliminating Drugs and Alcohol
One of the most important decisions J.J. made was removing drugs and alcohol from his life. Clear thinking, better decision-making, and improved relationships followed.
Final Thoughts
What stands out most about J.J.’s list is that none of these things involve talent, money, fame, or achievement.
Instead, they focus on faith, relationships, accountability, discipline, health, and personal responsibility.
His story is a reminder that change is possible for anyone willing to learn from the past, take ownership of their choices, and commit to becoming better each day.

In a world that moves faster every day, it’s easy to underestimate the value of relationships.
We spend countless hours pursuing goals, building careers, chasing success, and managing responsibilities. Yet when people reflect on the most meaningful moments of their lives, they rarely talk about trophies, titles, or accomplishments. They talk about people.
Relationships have a unique ability to influence our mindset, our well-being, and our overall quality of life. A simple conversation, a listening ear, or a genuine connection can have a greater impact than we often realize.
I was recently reminded of this during a conversation with someone named Hunter. What started as a casual discussion about hockey turned into a meaningful reminder of how powerful human connection can be. There was no agenda, no life lesson being taught, and no expectation of anything in return. It was simply two people having a conversation.
That experience reinforced something I have believed for many years: relationships matter.
10 Reasons Relationships Are So Important
1. Relationships Give Us a Sense of Belonging
Everyone wants to feel connected to something bigger than themselves. Strong relationships help us feel valued, accepted, and understood.
2. Relationships Reduce Stress
Life can be demanding. Having people we can talk to often helps us manage challenges more effectively.
3. Relationships Improve Mental Well-Being
Meaningful connections provide encouragement, support, and perspective during difficult times.
4. Relationships Help Us Grow
The people around us influence our thoughts, habits, attitudes, and behaviors. Strong relationships often help us become better versions of ourselves.
5. Relationships Build Resilience
When setbacks occur, supportive relationships can provide the strength needed to keep moving forward.
6. Relationships Create Perspective
Sometimes a conversation helps us see things differently and reminds us that our current challenge is only part of a much larger story.
7. Relationships Make Experiences More Meaningful
Success is more enjoyable when it can be shared with others. Challenges are easier when they are not faced alone.
8. Relationships Encourage Gratitude
Meaningful connections remind us to appreciate the people who positively impact our lives every day.
9. Relationships Leave Lasting Memories
People may forget what was said, but they often remember how someone made them feel.
10. Relationships Can Change Lives
Sometimes a simple conversation, a kind gesture, or a few moments of genuine attention can have a lasting impact on another person.
The Healthy Mindset Connection
A healthy mindset is not built in isolation.
Athletes, leaders, professionals, and high performers often focus on discipline, goals, habits, and accountability. While those things are important, relationships are often the foundation that supports them all.
The people who encourage us, challenge us, listen to us, and believe in us can make a tremendous difference in how we think, perform, and respond to adversity.
Never underestimate the power of a conversation.
Never underestimate the value of making someone feel heard.
And never underestimate the impact a positive relationship can have on another person’s life.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments are not the big events. They are the simple connections that remind us we are all human.

Everyone faces adversity, but the difference is how we respond to it. Andrew Lavine’s story is a powerful reminder that setbacks do not have to define our future.
As a young tennis player, Andrew dreamed of competing at the Division I level. Along the way, he faced challenges that most people never experience, including moving to a new city, feeling isolated, and losing his mother at a young age. Despite the pain, uncertainty, and obstacles, he refused to quit on his dream.
Instead of allowing adversity to become a scar, Andrew chose to use it as an edge. He found purpose in honoring his mother, developed a strong reason why he played, and continued taking one step forward every day. Through hard work, perseverance, and a growth mindset, he earned the opportunity to play Division I tennis.
Andrew’s story reminds us that success is not about avoiding challenges. It is about continuing to move forward when challenges arise. You do not need perfect circumstances, and you do not need everyone to believe in you. You need a purpose, a willingness to keep learning, and the courage to never quit.
Adversity will test you, but it can also strengthen you. Never let a setback define who you are or where you are capable of going.

Back in 2003, I started writing my first book, 100 Ways to Become Your Personal Best: Blueprint Edition. At the time, I wanted to share everything I had learned from professional hockey, coaching, leadership, business, and personal growth.
In 2012, the book was picked up by a writer/editor and made available on Amazon.
Like many first-time authors, I believed that the more information I could provide, the more I could help people. Looking back, I’ve learned something different.
Success isn’t about collecting more information.
Over the years, I have worked with athletes, business professionals, leaders, and teams from many different backgrounds. While their goals were different, I noticed a common pattern.
