Big Idea: Moving forward requires moving on!
1. Unpresumptuous about my progress: learn to say “I’m not yet perfect”
In other words, a present pursuit of sanctification that has no anchoring to a prior point of salvation, will ultimately lead to a deficiency in motivation and a total lack of transformation!
2. Unfettered by my past: learn to say “I’m not who I was”
3 Ways our past can be used for God’s glory :
1. The fuel that ignites our gratitude
2. The compass that points to God’s grace
3. The fence that keeps us from future failure
4 Land mines that destroy:
1. The controlling past - the danger of allowing our past to control us
2. The nostalgic past - the danger of allowing past success to become your last story
3. The failed past - the danger of allowing past failure to become current paralysis
4. The broken past - the danger of allowing past brokenness to become present brokenness
3. Unrelenting in my pursuit: learn to say “I’m not yet finished”
