Now that we have been saved by grace, we begin the process of being transformed into the likeness of Christ. Although obeying God’s Code of Conduct is part of this process, rules don’t have the power to make us better people. In fact, rules makes things worse for us, because although we might agree with them, we battle to follow them. Why is this? And is there a better way?

We all know that the darkness always seems darkest before the dawn. But it’s that very darkness that makes us long for the dawn; it highlights our desperate need for the dawn. As humans, we need to grasp the reality of our condition before we can accept what God, in His love and kindness, has to offer us.

Romans 3:1-20

Salvation necessitates a work of God in the hearts of people. This work is often referred to as circumcision of the heart. Apart from such a work in the heart no one can be saved whether Jew or Gentile. The good news is God has promised to do this work in the hearts of all His people. By doing so they will be empowered to fulfill the Law and please Him - something no one can do unless their heart has been circumcised by God. This is the message Trevor shares in this sermon as he leads us through.
