In Matthew 10, Jesus calls His disciples together to send them off on an evangelistic campaign. He gives them specific instructions on what to do when someone does not receive you. They are to let their peace return to them and shake the dust off their feet. A key principle that is applicable to our ability to help people is not based solely on our willingness to offer it but also dependent on their openness to receive it.

In John 13, Jesus gave His disciples a command to love one another just as He has loved them. How do you deal with those whom you are called to love, but they challenge your ability to walk in love because they have the ability to make that walk difficult? How do we deal with difficult people?

In John 17, prior to the climactic events leading up to the cross, Jesus His Farewell Discourse. It's a prayer. At the conclusion of it, Jesus reveals what He desires most for us: that we would be one. Unity is so important to Jesus that He tied his reputation and credibility to how well his followers would display unity. This unity was not to be invisible but visible to the world so that they might believe in Him. What does a unified group of believers look like?
